No one does it quiet like them
Kawaki and Metal training time? Yes.
❝ who's gonna take you seriously if all you're doing is apologizing every damn time? either train like a shinobi or leave me alone. everyone talks about your taijutsu like it's the best around -- whoever trained you is weak shit because you're lacking. ❞ | Metal :')
The Hokage, or whatever that man was, was right. There was nowhere Kawaki could go to get out of this damned place. Didn't that idiot realize the more he stayed here, the more liable Jigen was to come and find him? Protect him?! He could take care of himself! He didn't need others to look after him -- he didn't want it nor did he ask for protection, for him to care! So why was that loser so obsessed with keeping him safe? This was stupid.
As the boy waltzed through the village, konoha police stood guard at their designated posts, eyeing him -- such scornful looks. Of course, he was an outsider. He didn't belong here. Kawaki didn't belong anywhere. A mere empty shell, no matter how much would fill him, it would just drain through. Thinking about what Jigen had always told him when he was younger. . .it made an odd sensation flow through his body, disrupting the flow, making his anxiety worsen.
It caused the boy to grasp the fabric covering his chest -- as if his fingernails could dig through his flesh and grasp his heart. What was this ache? His eyes hurt so much, yet no tears spilled forth but by god if he could. . .he would. There was no way he'd show emotions; matter of fact, he didn't even know what those were. It wasn't what he was taught. The sudden drop to his knees and a silent scream -- police soon surrounded him. The atmosphere around him thickened, heated, as it slithered it way to his throat to choke him.
Grey-blue eyes stared down each one of them. Like a stray, injured dog backed into a corner -- memories of the members circling around him, sneering. ❝ G-Get away! ❞ a harsh growl, teeth bared but his body had not moved as it was stuck in fear. It had been the unknown hand of a police guard that touched his shoulder to make sure he was okay that set him off.
It was the memory of Boro grabbing him by the collar as if he were some sort of ragdoll before treating him like a punching bag.
Reacting on muscle memory, the boy had taken the hand of the guard and snapped it back, breaking it. The wailing scream from the man could be heard for miles. Kawaki didn't care all he cared about was getting out. He had to get out, getaway. He would take out anyone in his way. The widening of his eyes and the rage that reflected from within -- to be someone's game piece, someone's property --
The orphan took off running. Apparent that he was not in reality at this moment in time, he was reacting to traumatic events. Anyone who opposed his freedom to leave was an organization member. Kawaki was relying on survival instinct, not knowing who was who -- his right arm transformed, an unsightly looking cyborg-scythe made of odd material but could withstand certain blows.
By this time everyone was shouting in fear as he ran through the streets and towards the gates. Uncouth and wild, led astray and silently screamed for help. Anyone who was brave enough - Naruto would hear about this soon enough. . .

Boruto OP 23
the fall ( 2006 ) sentence starters ↪ taken from tarsem singh’s visual fantasy film. alter as you see fit ♡
“i have a message for you.”
“your note came in, and landed on my lap. couldn’t even understand it. it’s written in gibberish or something.”
“how’d you hurt your arm?”
“i was picking oranges.”
“hey, i can see you. come on out here. i can see you hiding.”
“all right, don’t break your other arm.”
“what’s in your box?”
“he’s got the same gap in his teeth, must run in the family.”
“i’m sorry to hear that.”
“he was lost in the middle of a vast desert, full of orange sand with only a handful of men but they didn’t have any water.”
“i believe your wisdom shall save us all.”
“it’s stupid.”
“what would you do better?”
“hey, why don’t you come back tomorrow … and i’m going to tell
you a different story. an epic tale of love and revenge.”
“you know what “epic” means?”
“you should be fully recovered.”
“in the next couple of weeks the pain should abate, then one more operation.”
“this is going to take some effort on your part, too, you know that?”
“next time, i’ll glue your lips to this and carry you away.”
“if you were trying to impress her … [name] already did a better job.”
“every cloud has a silver lining, that’s for sure.”
“i didn’t throw orange at you.”
“you’re not missing much.”
“will you tell me the story now?”
“all right, close your eyes. what do you see? can you see the stars?”
“it was a starry night …”
“i like him.”
“i don’t know why flamingos are pink.”
“that’s a good guess.”
“but i don’t like pirate stories.”
“i just wanted to know if your friend was a pirate.”
“i need to learn to swim.”
“how sad. the tortures of this world have driven the poor man mad.”
“i just wanna play a little game.”
“are you telling the truth?”
“no. you just said no, you weren’t telling the truth.”
“do you want me to finish the story?”
“please! are you listening to me?”
“i’m sorry i shouted at you. i was angry.”
“are you trying to save my soul?”
“did you understand what i meant?”
“are you worried about me?”
“do you know what “soul” means? it’s like strength …”
“that which has been taken from me can never be replaced.”
“i could’ve saved you, but i was weak.”
“my grief has gone blood-red with revenge.”
“hey! you can’t eat it, it’s poisonous!”
“please don’t run! the poison works faster if you run!”
“you always stop at the same part - when it’s very beautiful and interesting.”
“i’m having a hard time sleeping and i can’t remember that story.”
“i’m asking you as a friend.”
“it’s no different than stealing bread from a church.”
“you look beautiful.”
“you get up! you better get up and show these people you are sleeping.these men will chop you if you don’t get up.”
“you know what i do when something frightens me? i say the magic words. googly, googly, googly, begone.”
“did you get what i sent you for?”
“she doesn’t know anything about him, but he knew everything about her.”
“boys, she’s mine.”
“you read my note.”
“how do you know about the priest and the orange?”
“everybody knows you like throwing oranges at the priest.”
“well, i want you to stay here until you get better.”
“i want to add something to it.”
“what happens to the money if i die?”
“[name], you need to get off this suicide thing.”
“problem is not his back. it’s a broken heart. he needs to get over her. i mean, he’s not the first guy to lose his girl.”
“you are someone famous.”
“i hope i never get better.”
“i want to stay here with you.”
“you like chocolate?”
“he’s not my friend.”
“he’s not my friend either.”
“i don’t want to be a bandit.”
“it’s the best part of the story, and since you’re leaving soon, i’d hate for you to spend your whole life … wondering how it turned out.”
“i think he stole it from me.”
“i’ve been on a quest for revenge.”
“i’ve fallen in love with you. but i am consumed with revenge. i’m not a man who can be loved.”
“when i fall asleep, you gotta go. and don’t come back tomorrow.”
“i’m sorry about this.”
“i don’t want you to see me like this.”
“no, i don’t want to make them kiss.”
“i want to look at you until i die.”
“what a mystery this world. one day you love them and the next day … you want to kill them a thousand times over.”
“i’m glad i never kissed you.”
“it says all that on that little locket?”
“first, marriage. and then they can kiss.”
“no wonder the bag was so heavy.”
“yeah. my daughter from a previous marriage.”
“i didn’t recognise you because you have teeth.”
“will you shut up, already?”
“i’ve had enough of you!”
“maybe one day you can take me and introduce me to your friend [name].”
“he’s very sad. he’s lost his girlfriend. he needs to sleep.”
“i’m sure they’re taking very good care of him.”
“that is your responsibility and this is how you treat it.”
“to get better, you gotta have the will and your own desire to live.”
“i heard. everybody’s heard.you’re famous.”
“yeah, they’re angry. but not at you.”
“i didn’t tell anybody about our secret.”
“i should go. you need your rest.”
“the story was just a trick to get you to do something for me.”
“there’s no happy ending with me.”
“she was just pretending to love you.”
“they’re going to find out I’m a fraud!”
“i don’t like this! i don’t like this story.”
“why are you killing everybody?”
“it’s my story.”
“no, but wait a little. wait, please!”
“you are making this up.”
“i want you to see how pathetic he really is.”
“for god’s sakes, the water’s only waist-high.”
“i’m not your father.”
“how pathetic! look at him!”
“there’s nothing left for him.”
“she’ll survive. she’s young.”
“it’s okay. it’s all right. it’s over now.”
“give me a kiss.”
“you do realise it was all a test to see if you truly loved me, don’t you?”
“i’m not feeling very well.”
“we’re a strange pair, aren’t we?”
“did i just miss something?”

Takigakure. The Seventh seemed to have vacation again, and this time their trip was to Takigakure. Kawaki had never been out of the country let alone outside of the village. This was a first for him -- well, the fact they had to take a boat ride here he wasn't so enthusiastic about. The boy had to fight back nausea the entire way here while being teased by his idiot brother.
It took them a few minutes to get off the boat and when they did, Kawaki waved his hand toward his family. Unable to speak, he wanted to walk the grounds for a bit in order to shake off the queasy feeling. Ignoring the complaints of his brother, the boy sauntered away, hand on his stomach, features paling with every step. If he could just sit somewhere comfortable -- anywhere, really.
It was then he spotted a far-off-looking home. . .guarded by shinobi. It was then Kawaki was placed on high alert. The nauseating feeling was gone and replaced with adrenaline and curiosity. He knew this place was sketchy when he stepped off that boat. With a scowl, he turned off his chakra network and began the descent, remaining hidden. If this was some kind of threat to Naruto, he had to make sure.
Coming up through the backways, Kawaki managed to slip through the window silently. The light reflected off the headband resting around his neck, labeling him as a shinobi. Did someone really live here? Why did this place have guards stationed around? Cool, grey-blue eyes scanned the rooms but there wasn't really anything to see. Was there really someone here?

“i don’t like that look, what happened?” worried dad
He could brush off the seventh's concern with a cold shoulder, but he decided not to. Grey-blue eyes looked around the room, foot tapping on the floor anxiously as he crossed his arms. His bottom lip pouted out as if pondering whether he should tell naruto. ❝ N-Nothing - ❞ not like he burned something down fighting boruto. . .

“why do you have that look on your face?”
“finish what you’re doing, we have to talk.”
“what have you done to yourself?”
“did you do something different with your hair?”
“it doesn’t do any good to get worked up.”
“when was the last time we had a real conversation.”
“are you in the witness protection program, or what?”
“there’s something wrong with me.”
“no, i don’t hate you.”
“hey stupid.”
“we’re aren’t them.”
“looks like i’ll live long enough to make you pay.”
“you know you’re wrong.”
“i don’t understand, why are you doing this?”
“now, before i say anything, promise me you’ll stay calm.”
“what makes me so special?”
“you have no idea what i’ve been through.”
“you really don’t have to do that, not for me.”
“did you really think you’d get a second chance?”
“how about we don’t do that.”
“i have a lot going for me, but humility is not one of them.”
“you’re the worst.”
“i don’t need you right now.”
“don’t just stand there, looking at me.”
“i thought you were supposed to call me.”
“take my hand.”
“i need you.”
“you’re allowed to need help sometimes.”
“for someone who doesn’t like to feel things, you sure feel a lot of it out loud.”
“when this is all over, i want it to be you and me.”
“why won’t you tell me what happened?”
“you don’t know what this means to me.
“i know it doesn’t make sense.”
“i’m trying really hard to keep it together.”
“i know you’re new, but we do things a little differently here.”
“your voice is putting me to sleep.”
“did you find what you were looking for?”
"you knew and you didn’t even warn me?”
“well, i guess that’s broken.”
“i thought it was part of the act.”
“you think u don’t know you’re only here because they sent you?”
“you promised to call me if you didn’t know what to wear.”
“you can keep a secret, can’t you?”
“how could you do this to me?”
“put the gun down, dearest. i have news!”
“i know you don’t have any reason to trust me, but you need to know something.”
“if you’re here to tell me what happened last night, someone beat you to it.”
“people think i’m weird.”
“i think i’m losing myself again.”
“you can’t be here.”
“i wish you’d come to the funeral.”
“do you know what today is?”
“so, you broke my favourite mug… and you’re breaking up with me?”
“i need to get out.”
“it’s like i’m cursed or something.”
“you are remarkably well-behaved tonight, what have you been up to?”
“you gonna eat that?”
“sir, the pony rides are for children only.”
“i don’t want you to worry about that anymore.”
“we’ll never make it in time.”
“you’d be late for your own funeral.”
“you should have seen it coming.”
“oh, good, you’re here! hold this.”
“why can’t you just be happy for me?”
“on a scale of one to ten, how do you feel about nachos right now?”
“is this how you flirt with everyone?”
“how much longer till we’re there?”
“what have you done?”
“it’s time for you to repay that debt you owe me.”
“where did you get that? who gave it to you?”
“what kind of mother has thoughts like that?”
“i know I haven’t been what you needed, but i’m here, and i wanna help.”
“i never want to hear you say that again.”
“you’re all i have.”
“i know it’s not perfect, but i did follow the recipe this time.”
“i was doing so well until you showed up.”
“don’t eat that! i made it ‘specially for our guest.”
“it’s not that i don’t like my life, it’s that i don’t have the energy to enjoy it.”
“how can you stand this place?”
“don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t exactly blend in.”
“you need to stop.”
“i don’t like that look, what happened?”
“is that seriously your password?”
“what’s your problem?”
“you had no right to use it without asking.”
“oh, wow, you weren’t kidding.”
“i couldn’t trust my own parents to protect me.”
“i’m surprised you haven’t been arrested yet. wait, no, i’m not.”
“why do you want to help me?”
“ten bucks for that piece of crap?”
“we have to hurry, they’re coming!”
“hey, look what came in the mail!”
“do you want to get a drink or something?”
“please tell me you didn’t eat that.”
“the worst part is you didn’t even notice.”
“if i wanted help, i would have asked.”
“wanna tell me what’s going on with your grades?”
“you need to leave.”
“talk to me, okay? i need to know what’s going on.”
“i do blame you.”
“sometimes life deals you a bad hand, but you can still play your cards right and win.”
“you’re no longer useful to me.”
“i’m not good with sarcasm: if you don’t like me, just say it.”
