I just did some quick research, and from what I gather, the feminist movement in japan has been very close to our own, but they're just not going for autonomy like we are. And I see that marriage rates are going down, as well as childbirths.

oh yes i worded that badly because of course there is a feminist movement in japan but I meant that isn't this revolution of ad campaigns and social media stuff like what's going on in the west. Feminism has become a lot more mainstream here in the past decade

My boss met his wife in japan and he said that like Japanese wives are actually the bosses.. He said that like they're bosses of finances and stuff and he can't do anything without asking her. I'm not sure if this helps? But I know that like women definitely seem to control the household. He's been to japan many times(like three times in the past year) so I trust what he says.

I do understand that housewives play a very important role in Japanese society and yes they are the bosses of the household ( I actually did a project on this) but that doesn't diminish the fact that the gender roles there are very strict, and women aren't the bosses of corporations or anything like that. It's pretty much expected of women to be the housewife and for the man to go to work. Things are changing a little bit but Japanese culture  overall is more about going with the status quo instead of causing an uproar to demand change.
