KDrama fic: loser CEO (My Royal Nemesis)
Summary:
By now, Son Jae Han is, unfortunately, already deeply familiar with the many facets of Cha Se Gye. The cutthroat businessman who can make others weep and curse his name to the heavens. The strict CEO who expects nothing but loyalty and results from his subordinates. The favorite grandson who treats family affairs like a death sentence handed by the gods themselves. And yet, there is a new side to Cha Se Gye that Son Jae Han is oh-so-slowly getting acquainted with. That of a loser man in deep shit when it comes to matters of the heart.
Notes: IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING MY ROYAL NEMESIS I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU DO!!! It's so good ahhhh
anyway, here I am starting Kdrama tags on Ao3 that I have no business starting because Cha Se Gye being a tsundere loser in love tickled my fic writing urges lmao (also I'm just happy to add something new to my Kdrama series!)

I have been thinking a lot about My Royal Nemisis. Now that there are just 4 episodes left and Kang Danshim has travelled back to her own timeline, I want to share my theories on how it could possibily end. These are all purely my theories and speculations based on the episodes so far, so take it with a grain of salt.
Kang Danshim/Shin Seori is a transmigrator: So the last episode revealed that Kang Danshim was back in her own timeline. I think this was planned deliberately-not the white truck accident part, of course, but the first time slip which sent her to the 21st century in the first place.
We all know that the Grand Prince was just exiled and is still alive and this whole thing could have been arranged by him. Cause Kang Danshim was the only leverage the King had against him. He knew the King would get rid of everyone who knows the truth so Kang Dashim would become a casuality eventually. And so this could have been his plan to extract her from the King safely.
Also if you noticed, the shamen lady initially says(in ep1), "You have to die if you want to live." I initially interpretted it as Kang Danshim's death being the possible way for her to hurl her consciousness across time to her reincarnation. But what if this was done just to fake her death (after taking poison) to get her 'body' out of the palace?
I think, the key to time slip is for Kang Danshim or Shin Seori to essentially go to a coma or near death. But it does not stick long and could have been very brief(Maybe the red comet provides the power to make it permanent(?)).
Cause if you remember, Shin Seori's grandma said that she acted strangely after the childhood /teenage accident too. So Kang Danshim/Shin Seori are transmigrators. The first instance could have occured in the presence of the Grand Prince when Shin Seori had her accident in 21st century which could have briefly created a timeslip. This might have led the Grand Prince to understand that there is a possiblity for Kang Danshim to live safely in a much kinder world. And so once he got to know of the King's hit list, he must have seized the opportunity of her punishment and helped her transmigrate temporarily(or permanently) by putting her in a coma.
I think this serves him in two ways: 1) Keep Kang Danshim safe from everything while he takes on the King. (2) And if there is no possibilty for her to come back(since a near death experience is needed for this to happen and so he can't predict it), he knows she is in a safer world and loves her enough to let her go.
Memory Issues: I think the transmigration causes some form of memory issues in her? Cause if we consider Grandma's statements, this has happened before and yet Kang Danshim possess no memory of it at all. Also she does not immediately connect Cha Segye to Lee Hyun. She seem to recollect the incidents surrounding the Grand Prince but not his face per se. And when she tries to recollect, in episode 8, near the Han River, she gets headaches. The same goes for the modern day shamen, Kang Danshim doesn't seem to recognise that the both past life one and the current one share the same face.
However, she seem to recognise the King immediately in Choi Mundo. I think this could possibly be because of Kang Danshim's instinct to survive (or as she calls it her sixth sense against assassins) and probably due to the fact that she truly feared the King and he was the cause of her death. So even across timelines, her fear lets her identify him.
Now that I have posted some of my theories about the whole timeslip situation, I think the story could possibly go in these directions.
1) Grand Prince having rescued Kang Danshim's body was waiting for her to wake up while he was planning a coup. If we know Cha Segye, we know that he is not someone to go down quietly. So Lee Hyun must also be waiting for his opportunity to take down the King and clear both his and Kang Danshim's name.
2) Shin Seori could possibly return to her original timeline and have no recollection of Cha Segye, devastating him further.
3) Choi Mundo is mounting for the final attack to tear everything from Cha Segye. The grandpa is possibly alive and the lawyer who knows of the succession plan is already in Mun do's pocket. So Mundo must make sure the grandpa dies.
4) I think the obsessed finace, Mo Taehee might help Cha Segye in some shape or form to defeat Mundo. But I dont trust her fully yet. So I cannot call her an ally completely.
5) I have a feeling that Lee Hyun and Kang Danshim might not get a happy ending. The coup attempt could prove dangerous and Kang Danshim, who prides herself on shamelessly surviving at all costs, tries to sacrifice her life for him in a selfless act right before the red comet disappears forever.
6) This could potentially swap Shin Seori and Kang Danshim one last time and sealing the time tunnel or whatever that lets this transmigration to happen.
7) Grandpa survives and then Cha segye, Mo Taehee and possibly Kang Danshim (?) set a trap for Mundo and succeed. Maybe finally the evil grandpa can reveal why the hell he extracted everything out of Mundo if he was not going to give him anything. (Evil grandpa! He is a villain too!)
8) Kang Danshim reunites with Cha Segye and is stoked to learn that she is no longer the villainess of Joeson this time and probably she sees the painting she made labelled correctly and the portrait drawn by Lee Hyun is also fully preserved or something like that.
9) Cha Segye becomes the CEO of Chail and the assistant could become the CEO of Biojei. Dont ask why, I love his character a lot, so he gets to be a CEO too. 😂
10) Cha Segye finally gets to show his arm sized Namsen Tower to Shin Seori(Kang Danshim). 😉😉
The end.
My Royal Nemesis - episode 9 - That's First Love For You
You are quite naive indeed. That is why you are so easily fooled and used by men. You mustn't do anything for me. Focus on your survival, just as you did when you were interrogated. Consider this my final order to you. Kang Dan-sim, never come to my private quarters again.
