isn't it funny how a great show makes you wanna participate? I already just looked at tents and local campgrounds lol.

I definitely understand that though really no anime is gonna get me over being a grumpy homebody.

But damn is it fun to watch anime girls go camping instead of me.

Theory why mage girl wears skimpy outfit: cause a strong willed, cunning woman is too scary for viewers and the creators liked the design... but yeah... i thought it was weird too.

Overall the premiere was very very average so whether or not I continue will depend entirely on how much energy I have next Friday.

As much as i live konosuba... in the back of my mind, I'm always thinking, "but why studio deen?" What's your take. I might still be harboring resentment from higurashi and umineko, so i wanted another's perspective.

I think their choice the make the animation chaotic, fluid, and off-model is a really good fit to Konosuba’s tone and humor.

What's your opinion of junji ito so far? My friend loves it, but i just think it's corny and dull. That fuchi monster was cool, but really predictable. The rest has berm meh to me.

idk how much Junji Ito you’ve read but he’s kind of a toss-up. He’s got a good sense of humor and is great about coming up with horror concepts, but he’s not so much with the story-telling.

i was saying before though that Junji Ito’s biggest hooks are in his horrifying artwork

the anime has kind of been a hit and miss so far with capturing Junji horror. like in that first episode i was actually kind of leaning in for a scare during the spider sequence

but then it looked like crap and i was taken out of it. there have been a handful of shots that portray the artstyle well and are indeed creepy

but even then in the era of reaction faces and memes some of them are just funny

he always has balanced the line between being funny and horrifying, and honestly in an effective way. when i first read Gyo i was laughing my ass off about land sharks and yet for some reason they kept me up that night.

it’s an anime i’ll definitely be able to watch and probably enjoy a little bit, but I’m not expecting anything too great. just hoping they adapt some of the classics like Amigara Fault, Gyo, Tomie and maybe Uzumaki. then again ufotable already tried to adapt Gyo (and they messed around with a lot of the story to fit it into a movie length) but it still ended up being kinda shit. So Ito likely just isn’t very adaptable. and like I said before even in his manga he really just likes to play with concepts more than he is a great writer and a lackluster production won’t help. Kinda seen in the latest episode where a crystalline substance in your brain quickly deteriorates your body but puts you in an eternal dream the moment before you die. It’s a fairly awe-inspiring concept, both looming and scary, but just like with the Fuchi monster story it was so straight forward that you really just get what you get.

this isn't numbered, but it just occurred to me, what two shows would you like to see get a cross over the most?

hmmmmm honestly i don’t think i’ve ever seen much anime cross over. i feel like they’re kinda ineffective since most of the time it relies on the audience being on board with both franchises.

i’ve always wanted to see the Patlabor robots get into real fights. i mean the appeal of the show is in the maturity and calmness to its police procedural, but if they could drop in some Muv-Luv aliens or some crazy shit. idk those two series have horribly different tones so that’d probably be dumb

i think in this case intersectionality works best. like a crossover special between people and their own other works. a Ghost In The Shell special with the Black Magic M-66 androids would be sick

and i mean really i want a Medaka Box and Monogatari crossover so Medaka can fight Kiss Shot

moreover, there already IS a Nisio Isin cross-over manga but since Shueisha owns Medaka and Kodansha owns most of his popular series they can’t use any of Medaka Box characters which is a huge bummer
