Pokémon theory: Kanto was an isolationist nation and is has recently been trying to reconnect with the world

In R/B/Y professor oak says there are 150 types of Pokémon but three years later he finds out that there are 100 more species so within the last three years kanto has abandoned its isolationist agenda and is now trying to rediscover the world

This also explains why so many of the protags are people moving away from kanto (gen3,6,7)

poketheory: who was Kanto against in the pokemon war?

This is a theory that I'm sure has been on the minds of at least a portion of Pokémon fans, in RBY and their remakes Lt. Surge mentions that he fought in a war the only question is, just who was he facing? since it's confirmed that the Kanto region was involved in a war who was the opposing side? Here's my theory, it's Unova. Now while it's obvious this has nothing to do with Reshiram and Zekrom there are at least a few hints as to this being the case. First of all Kanto is based off of the real world region of Japan, and Unova is based off of the United States, now while this is kind of a stretch with only this one fact here's the thing.....Unova is the place where Victini can be found... and in some theories, Victini is a sentient atomic bomb. The people of Unova had discovered Victini and tried to use its power as a weapon against another region. However instead of just still holding their ground Kanto fought back, they used the newly created Mewtwo to retaliate against Unova, Though what Kanto didn't predict was Mewtwo sheer strength and in the midst of attacking the enemy Mewtwo went berserk and started attacking indiscriminate of who's side was receiving casualties, Mewtwo shot down Victini forcing the scientists who unleashed him to force him to retreat and declare a treaty with Kanto, the treaty was made and the regions subdued Mewtwo and locked the beast in Cerulean cave. Though the Pokémon had caused a lot of destruction especially to Kanto forcing them to  rebuild. Because of the war (especially when the two entities got involved) thousands died forcing the further development of Lavender Tower to fit more graves and leaving at least hundreds of people homeless and orphaned explaining the fatherless and parentless plights of Red and his vitriolic best bud Blue....

Why Mewtwo was created......

I just realized something a couple of days ago.... It's at least somewhat confirmed that the Kanto region was involved in a war... and part of me lingered on the concept that Mewtwo was created to put a stop to it(the being's creation is ambiguous in my mind though part of me is convinced a human subject was required to finish its development) ....and the reason why the creature was sealed in Cerulean Cave is because its strength surpassed prior calculations and it caused massive casualties....  Holy Shuppet the people of Kanto allowed history to repeat itself! (anyone who's played Pokémon X or Y will know why)
