Kaoru is actually the adopted daughter of Jushiro, her real father is a disgraced shinigami and her mother was a member of the 4th Division. The father left, and Jushiro and the mother reconnected before she passed away. Jushiro ended up adopting Kaoru, who takes on her mother's surname Chiha! I hope that answers your question! 💗 (This tbh made me so happy!)
