Kapanu uses AR to show outcomes of dental procedures
- By Nuadox Crew -
Swiss startup Kapanu is aiming to use AR technology to improve outcomes for dental surgery. The Kapanu system was showcased at the International Dental Show in Cologne, and reportedly impressed attendees. This led the company to be acquired by Ivoclar Vivadent.
Some dentists take 3D images of patients teeth, hence this existing information can be used to create an AR overlay that locks onto the patient’s mouth to show areas that would be changed or improved by the procedure, showing in greater detail what would change. The patient can then choose to tweak various options, such as teeth spacing.
It is unclear as to when Kapanu’s product will be available for commercial use.
