Tentative, cautious, curious, alive.. these are the things that come to mind as I draw small birds. I love their obvious vulnerability; as I believe it’s something us humans try to hide and doesn’t serve us well to do so. The ability to fly, to escape, to use their wings for freedom and necessity is also something I admire about birds. It is who they are, it’s their natural ability to fly. It is a perfect companion to their vulnerability. This makes me wonder; as a human, how am I vulnerable? How am I free?
