Why do you call Kapono your brother?

“Kapono is my family. He’s the closest thing I got, anyway. We’ve been close since I was pretty young and we’ve seen each other through a lot. He was there for me when I OD’d and I was there for him when he went to prison. He’s my brother in every sense of the word besides blood relation. A lot of people take a look at us and don’t expect us to have any real sort of bond but…he’s the person I’m closest to in the world. He’s my best friend, and more, you know? That’s why he’s my brother and that’s why I call him that.”@kaponoxlocklear

Ease My Mind || Kapono & Jonny

If it was warmer Jonny would probably be out laying in ‘Pono’s backyard at this point with a joint between his lips and something from his best friend’s fridge in his hand. As it was, it was too cold for anemic Jonny so he let himself in and curled up in his friend’s bed. Somehow he felt more secure here than at home right now. While he still couldn’t really sleep (evident in the dark circles under his eyes) at least he found himself dozing off here and there. When he heard the front door shut he cracked his eyes open, waiting for Kapono to show his face. He was sure he knew he was here. Jonny’s bike was parked in his driveway, but he doubted he expected to find him in his bed. “You’re out of orange juice,” he called to him but made no move to get up.
