i really hate when people do that. like, linguistic majors are totally necessary for education and development. there's more to life than becoming a doctor/lawyer/accountant (not that there's anything wrong with those professions)

tell that woman that lingusitics majors can find jobs in various industries and have a starting salary between 40k-60k. if you got into teaching and became tenured you could even make 95k. so actually tell her to stfu.
