The mistakes I made running my tech start up in Karachi
Starting your tech business in Pakistan is not as easy as it looks. When I was starting out, people close to me mentioned issues that I would need to face, like finding the right employees and the right space and the right clients, would be an issue. But from my personal experience I have found that finding the right companies to service you is more important than anything.
So far the biggest mistake I have made is choose worldcall as my internet service provider. They are quite possibly the most incompetent company of the lot in Karachi. They have a regular shutdown of a day which they pick at random every week. This is if they are all feeling good, it can go unto two days sometimes but who is counting. So far Because of worlcall I have lost at least 15 days of work.
I have now ordered a PTCL internet connection which I am hoping will be better than worldcall. At this point I think any company would be better than world call.
The second mistake I made was try to open an account in Habib Metropolitan Bank. This Bank is like a public bank. But thank god I realized after two weeks of trying to open an account in this bank that they are not worth it. I have now opened accounts in Allied and Soneri the two banks that won’t make you run around to open an account. Where there is something called customer service.
Everyone makes mistakes and I have surely made mine. They have cost me lots of time and delayed things that would lead to growth. I hope I do not run in to more companies that are as bad as the ones I have mentioned above. If i do I will surely write about it.
