Karadji
Common Name: Sandmen,
Other Names: Dream Walkers
Guardian Domain: Dreamtime
Sacred Metal: Gold
Realm of Origin: Arrernte
Overview
The Karadji are guardians of the most vulnerable realm of all: the mind at rest.
Where others guard space, thresholds, or matter, the Karadji guard what slips free when the body sleeps. Dreams are not metaphor to them. Dreamtime is a real place—ancient, sacred, and easily violated. The Karadji walk it so others may survive it.
They are underestimated more than any other guardian race.
This has never ended well for anyone who tried.
Physical Appearance
Karadji bodies reflect their realm: soft, rounded, and deceptive.
Height & Build: Short and stout; compact, grounded frames
Skin: Dark, warm-toned—rich browns with golden or reddish undertones
Hair: Wooly, cloudlike texture; always very light in color, colors of the rainbow

The Scent of Dream
The most immediately recognizable Karadji trait is their scent.
Karadji smell sweet—like pastries, sugar, cotton candy, candied fruit
The scent is detectable by any being, including humans
Karadji themselves cannot smell it on one another, likely due to sensory adaptation

Karadji bodies are tuned to non-physical reality.
Highly sensitive to emotional and psychic states
Natural resistance to illusion, possession, and dream predators
Capable of dream-walking, possession, and memory traversal
They experience time, logic, and causality nonlinearly—what appears whimsical is often deeply intentional.

Dream-walking and shared dream navigation
Possession (consensual or hostile)
Illusion shaping
Memory manipulation
Psychic combat within Dreamtime
Culture
Karadji culture is collectivist, ritualistic, and deeply spiritual. However, their people isolate themselves as a group from outsiders.
Dreamtime is sacred and protected
Symbolic art, sand drawings, and ritual meditation are central
Language is often nonlinear, metaphorical, or playful
Outsiders often mistake their behavior for unseriousness.
Temperament
Karadji are:
Calm
Whimsical
Non-confrontational
Profoundly intuitive
They appear relaxed even in crisis, because panic has no meaning in Dreamtime.
Their humor is not levity—it is perspective.
Role in the Serpent Calling
As Dreamtime guardians, the Karadji protect wandering souls from possession, manipulation, and erasure. Schaccath’s influence spreads most easily through dreams, making the Karadji one of his greatest obstacles—and one of his most desired corruptions.
