Hey jessie! How are you?
We miss you so much
little late, but can we give my boy Ravi some love. Ravi and his BSF reader practicing kissing with each other? Except they both have massive crushes on eachother and it's just an excuse cuz he's dating Connie. Please please please. And like they've known each other since he got to america? Also can it be a bit of angst and jealous
Just Practice
—Summary: Ravi likes you, you like him. However, you can’t help but feel jealous and angst as Ravi practice kissing for Connie
—Warning: Angst, jealousy, small fluff, not much
Song: jealousy, jealousy; Olivia Rodrigo
You’ve known Ravi Ross since the moment he stepped into the penthouse.
Back when his accent was thicker, when he clutched his backpack like it was the only familiar thing left in a brand-new country.
You were the first person who talked to him at school, the first friend he made in America.
You helped him understand slang, laughed with him when he mixed words up, defended him when kids were cruel.
You became best friends.
And somewhere along the way—quietly, painfully—you fell in love with him.
Now you’re sitting on his bed, knees pulled to your chest, watching him pace the room.
“I’m just saying,” Ravi says, running a hand through his hair, clearly nervous, “Connie thinks I’m… bad at kissing.”
Your heart drops.
“Oh,” you say, forcing a casual tone. “That’s… rough.”
He stops pacing and looks at you. “She didn’t say it like that. Just that I’m… stiff. Like I’m overthinking it.”
You always overthink, you want to say. Especially when it matters.
Instead, you shrug. “I mean. You’ll figure it out.”
Ravi hesitates. You know that look. He’s about to ask for something he shouldn’t.
“…Could you help me?”
You blink. “Help you how?”
He swallows. “We could… practice.”
The room goes quiet.
Practice.
You laugh weakly. “Ravi, I’m your best friend.”
“I know,” he says quickly. “That’s why it wouldn’t be weird. There’s no pressure. It’s just—just practice. So I don’t mess things up with Connie.”
Connie.
Her name feels sharp in your chest. She’s nice. Smart. Pretty. And she’s dating the boy you’ve loved for years.
You should say no.
You should absolutely say no.
But you don’t.
“…Okay,” you hear yourself say.
Ravi exhales in relief. “Really?”
“Yeah,” you lie. “It’s not a big deal.”
You scoot closer on the bed, your knees brushing. The air feels too thick, like it’s pressing down on your lungs.
“So,” Ravi says awkwardly, “do we just… go for it?”
“Guess so.”
He leans in slowly, giving you time to back out.
You don’t.
When his lips touch yours, your heart breaks a little.
It’s soft at first. Careful. Ravi always is. His hand hovers near your waist like he’s afraid to touch you. You kiss him back gently, instinctively, like your body has been waiting for this for years.
Then he relaxes.
His hand settles on your hip. His lips move more confidently, more naturally. Like this is what he’s supposed to be doing.
Like this is what he wants.
You pull back before you completely lose yourself.
“Ravi,” you whisper, breath shaky.
“Was that okay?” he asks, hopeful. “Because Connie says I don’t—”
You stand abruptly. “You’re fine. You’re great. She won’t have a problem.”
That’s when he notices your face. The tightness in your voice. The way you won’t look at him.
“What’s wrong?” he asks softly.
“Nothing,” you say too quickly. “I just—this was a bad idea.”
His brows knit together. “Why?”
You laugh, bitter and quiet. “Because you don’t practice kissing someone who’s been in love with you since you were elven years old.”
The words hang between you.
Ravi freezes.
“…What?”
You finally look at him, eyes glossy. “I’ve loved you since you got here, Ravi. Since day one. And you never noticed because I was always just your best friend.”
His mouth opens, then closes. His voice comes out small. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you’re dating Connie,” you snap, immediately softer. “Because I didn’t want to ruin what we have. Because I thought… if I stayed close enough, maybe it wouldn’t hurt so much.”
He sits down heavily on the bed.
“I didn’t know,” he says. “But… I think I do now.”
Your heart stutters. “What does that mean?”
He looks at you, really looks at you, like something has finally clicked into place.
“I think I’ve been using Connie as an excuse,” he admits quietly. “Because liking you felt too risky. Too important.”
Tears slip down your cheeks. “Ravi…”
“I’m sorry,” he whispers. “For asking you to practice. For hurting you. For not realizing sooner.”
You wipe your face. “So what now?”
He stands, stepping closer, but stopping just short of touching you. “Now I stop pretending. And I talk to Connie. Because it wouldn’t be fair to her… or to you.”
Your heart races. “And us?”
He smiles softly. “I’d like to practice kissing you again. But this time… not for anyone else.”
This time, when he kisses you, there’s no pretending at all.
Karan Brar - How I Found Myself
For years, I had nailed the whole "compartmentalizing" thing and I figured I didn't need to stop then. There was public Karan and private Karan. Both were real, but trying to hold them in one body was proving to be too much. Still, I kept pushing myself until cracks started to form. It all came to a head while I was drunkenly hunched over a toilet bowl, watching my tacos from lunch and several White Claws come back out. I decided that was the best time to come out to Cameron and Sophie.
The moment the words left my mouth, I regretted it. I could barely see straight, but I ended up trying to do some damage control anyway. The best thing I could think of came stumbling out of my mouth:
“If you guys want me to move out I can. Just give me two weeks to figure it ou--”
They interrupted me by hugging me from behind. Again, I told them I should move out. They told me I was being stupid. I told them I’d cover for them if people asked why we didn’t live together anymore. They said to shut the fuck up. I told them that they probably hated me. They said my bisexuality changed nothing for them. Eventually, I lost enough steam to finally go to bed. I was too afraid to sleep on my own so Sophie grabbed a bowl, put it by my side of the bed, and made herself comfortable on the other side. They were both shocked when I came out, not because of my sexual identity, but because I genuinely thought they would want nothing to do with me after I told them. Today I can understand how absurd that was — Soph and Cam had been my best friends for years and loved me every step of the way. Why in the world would they stop then? I think I just convinced myself that this part of me would feel less like an invitation to know me better and more like a burden they had to endure.
The next morning, we reconvened in the living room and even in my sober state, I tried to give them one more opportunity to accept my offer to move out. Living together had been a childhood dream of ours, but a voice inside of me kept shouting that I had just ruined the beginning of a beautiful chapter. To no one's surprise, Cameron interrupted me once again, while Sophie tried to hide her frustrations because I refused to listen to what they had to say.
This was the first time in years that I wasn’t hiding anything from them; instead, they were seeing the most authentic version of me. I finally gave up and accepted that they loved me as I am, as I’ve been, and as I’m going to be. This was a crisp picture of what unconditional love looked like: my two best friends sitting across from me on a discount couch, waiting to hear me describe my type so they could take on their new roles as matchmakers. They weren’t going anywhere.
