Tara Khanna and Karan Mehra MADE IN HEAVEN Season 1
“karan! nawab! on the court, now!” // or, karan’s first flashback to the only man he’s ever loved, back in high school, in the series made in heaven.
Reasons to watch Made in Heaven:
.) It’s about two underdogs who beat the odds together and create a wedding planning business. Two trusting, giving, and respectful friends that will always have each other’s backs.
.) It’s about the dissonance in character of so called “modern and liberal” people, who really in their roots are as regressive as anyone they call “traditional”.
.) It’s about a woman who works her way up the ladder, only to realize that money really can’t fucking buy you happiness, and dependency on others is a disease.
.) It’s about a man who, against all odds, embraces his sexuality and tries to live life with morals while fighting the regressive system that is against his very being. About young-love, that was destroyed because of archaic beliefs.
.) It’s about people who realize that maybe the reason they hate others is because they are suppressing their true selves.
.) It’s about a woman who has to finance her entire family, as her coddled brother remains heavily addicted to heroine, and cannot stop because of a nation-wide epidemic funded by the government itself.
.) It’s about how classism & elitism is as, and maybe even more, of a relevant crises than ever.
.) It’s about how Americanization has been associated with progression, when in actuality the eradicaiton of one’s culture is doing the complete opposite.
.) It’s about a society, that shames a woman for “breaking the family” by sleeping with their not-single boss, as said man fucks his way through the damn city as people pretend to not know.
.) It’s about two friends who are burdened by their past, in ways that have surpressed their true happiness and identity.
.) It’s about police brutality, and how really money saves people from facing any true repercussions to their actions. It’s about section 377, section 124-A, section 497, that all show that sometime laws should really be fucking bent.
.) It’s about how even when a women is leading a department, men still only take orders from other men.
.) It’s about dowry, it’s about race, it’s about religion, it’s about caste, it’s about capitalism.
.) It’s about women being oppressed, drugged, sacrificed, and abused for men’s selfish motives.
.) It’s about how the Americanization of “developing countries” is considered progression because of an ingrained mentality and idolization of European standards, that began because of colonialism.
.) It’s about how pressuring people into getting married leads to unfixable damage, that has lasting affects for generations and generations.
.) It’s about, the world being built around the comfort of men, and how deeply the patriarchy runs throughout our cultures.
.) It’s about friendship, between two people who have been through hell and back.
.) It’s about, white people culture not being the benchmark of progression. That changing your clothes, un-frizzying your hair, speaking english, drinking wine from a swirling glass does not change the very fact that your beliefs and attitudes can still be pieces of absolute garbage. That you saying you’re progressive, only to constantly pursue patterns of regressive behaviour, really shows how little your brain has developed.
.) And lastly it’s about about how at the end of the day, money, and men, ain’t shit.
