Come sing your hearts out for a good cause and support the #DontLookAway Youth Media Project, which is sending 6 aspiring, independent youth journalists, ages 9-19, to the US border with Mexico to shine a local media spotlight on the refugee crisis from the first hand perspective of the refugees who are arriving at our border in search of asylum and relief. Under the guidance of Flossin Media (founders of youth media program, Greenlighting Black Lives Matter Youth Media Project in Portland, Oregon), interviews with families and children approaching the border will be conducted by our youth journalists, who will provide daily livestream, blog and social media broadcasting on multiple platforms simultaneously. The goal of the #DontLookAway Youth Media Project is to instill and raise youth perceptions of self-capability, significance and influence over their own lives and narratives, and then leverage that power to tell their stories and give voice to those who are unheard and misrepresented in the media.
