Did you know! There are over 1,500 species of Bamboo in the world. There are around 125 indigenous and 11 exotic species of Bamboo belonging to 23 genera are reportedly found in India. Bamboo is edible, most of them. A Panda’s diet is 99% made up of bamboo shoots, poles and leaves. Meet Dr @charveepatel, a dentist, a philanthropist, and an Aspirational District Fellow. After practicing as a Dentist in Delhi she signed up for the SBI Youth for India Fellowship. She worked with the mewari communities of Eral, Chittorgarh. She worked on hygiene and health awareness amongst women and adolescent girls. She not only arranged different activities for the community to participate in but also designed a self help booklet to practice hygiene. She documented her journey in short film with the villagers on menstrual hygiene management called “Gullak”, and created a page @daughter.dear that celebrates women. It provides a space to other women and young girls to speak their mind. She is currently working as an Aspirational District Fellow at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. During this Pandemic (COVID-19), she has helped, working beside the district collector, communities in Hazaribag, Jharkhand, with necessary medical supplies and food supplies. Meet @roohipatel , Research Consultant, SEWA Federation. When Roohi started her journey as an @sbi_yfi fellow with @gramvikasodisha she met a group of tribal women who were making artisanal soaps for a living called @angaisoap. These women were struggling and were facing challenges to keep the business running but their willingness to continue learning became her source of encouragement. Having an entrepreneurial experience, she helped these women to scale up their production, how to market their products, how to maintain the quality of the product.
