assuming nicky is the worst with languages because luca has a strong accent is a gross stereotype to perpetuate. think about the shitty implications of your headcanons for literally a moment, please.

Finally a proper reference for my gore sona. Nova is infected with an eldritch parasite (my other sona actually) that keeps him unable to die. At this point he’s less horrified about this, and is more just passively apathetic.
“He's the moon when I'm lost in darkness and warmth when I shiver in cold.”
I drew a whole tarot deck and of course I gave the moon to Nicky and the sun to Joe!
*bangs fists on table* Release all 13 takes of the van scene.
.....please
Why do I get strong Wash and Zoe (Firefly) vibes from Nicky and Joe??

Is it a hot take to say I don’t care to see a flashback to the crusades? Not into it.
just thinking a lot about that one scene at the end of the old guard, where Andy, Joe, & Nicky finally get a good look at the board for the first time.
Andy’s emotional arch over the course of the movie is about figuring out why they bother trying to put good out into a harsh world that doesn’t seem to be getting any less cruel. This is the conclusion to that arch, and it’s a massively important part of the story and a really powerful moment. But I can’t stress enough how important it is that they show Joe & Nicky’s response too.
Joe and Nicky are often regarded as the most well adjusted members of the Old Guard. They certainly live a life of hardship, but for 920 years they’ve always had each other. Joe is the one to lighten the mood and make others smile. Nicky is incredibly kind and is constantly insisting that they do the right thing for the right reasons. On the surface, it doesn't seem that they would need such a reminder as to why they fight- and maybe they don’t need a reminder, but I’m so happy they got one regardless.
These two could very easily have become exhausted and jaded after everything that happened to them in the film- even before the torture and the reveal of Booker’s betrayal, they are faced with homophobia, capture, and uncertainty. Instead, these two remarkably kind individuals end the movie with a whole lot of fight in them.
