Om auf da Kaserer
When I was asked the day before to join a group who wanted to climb at Kasererwand my sissy instinct kicked in and I was thinking “Really? Then I have to get up so early only having four hours of sleep. I’d rather... and it’s gonna be so cold. And somehow I gotta get up there”. The ususal.
So glad I didn’t bail.
Well, yeah, we did have to leave early and I even forgot to set the alarm but wondrously I got up ten to five, packed, was on my way and luckily on time at the place where we were supposed to meet.
We then drove to Sudelfeld (or rather close by), repacked to only carry the necessary and hiked up with our gear. On our war we hiked through beautiful and sometimes snowy pastures and little forests we could even observe some wonderfully graceful chamois. After about one hour, we arrived at the top.
At the wall itself we climbed, hung out, had snacks and a lot of fun. Some of the routes where quite frustrating but that didn’t get to our morale AT ALL. Not even the weather which - at times - was pretty doubtful, e.g. when a little shower came down upon us and turned into snow flakes. We were at the point of calling it a day.
So glad we didn’t.
The sun came out eventually again, we did some more climbing and had a great time before descending.
At the descent, a certain somebody - of course - had to get going alone in order to take some more pictures which led to a little and entertaining rescue mission. But hey, there gotta be some excitement, right?
