“They took the last Dumpling.”
Akira nodded along as the woman spoke. "oh yeah. They definitely took the last dumpling, Nem. I saw them take it. What you gonna do about it?"

“They took the last Dumpling.”

“That guy’s a mess. It’s like God spilled a person.”
Of course Wu was weeping in his bodyguard’s arms after encountering one of his ‘allergies’ (what was it this time? Shrimp? Water? Sunlight?), which was just what the party needed. Iroh scoffed at the younger (former) prince, turning back to his erstwhile colleague, careful not to be overheard. “I’d feel sorry for him if he wasn’t such a pain in the ass.” Pursing his lips and attempting to shut out the younger man’s antics, Iroh knocked back what remained of his drink as a silent testament to his impatience.
“When people say, “Don’t kill,” it just- I don’t hear it. The words don’t make it to my brain.”
“Yeah… I’ve been around you long enough now to have noticed that. The words ‘Stop poking the dead guy’ don’t seem to register either”

“No, I’m still on a murder break. Except where I, you know. Except when I’m obligated to murder.” ((It's a Ryan quote, but totally something Kason would fucking say))
“Yeah yeah, Kason. You’re on a Murder break. Where did you have your dolls dispose of the bodies this time?”
@kason-the-equalist
“That was mostly an accident.”
“How was it mostly an accident! You were throwing knives at people for fun! What did you think was going to happen!”

“I’ve spoken and sat in Republic City Hall for a few times, so I have a good feel for the place. I started to notice the path of the different sunbeams through the windows over the course of the day, and with nothing better to do during a political meeting, I sketched the floorplan and traced their path.
About a week after the Korra sorted out the Unalaq business, the president said he’d be giving a speech there, and released a seating plan. Seeing the opportunity, I overlaid my old sunbeam map on the seating, found the seat most directly illuminated, and bought the ticket from the first owner at quite a markup.
I polished the buttons of my jacket to a mirror shine the night before, so when Raiko was in the middle of his speech, the sun reflected off one of them and right into his eye. Completely threw him off, and the papers mentioned a bizarre episode of his in the middle of an event.”
schadenfreude (Hello friend!)
[FRIEND. *pets your presh face*]
Chaud-n-froid? “It’s... that a restaurant?” she murmured under her breath as she glanced to her scroll when the definition pulled up.
...oh. Pleasure from someone else’s misfortune? She snorted at that. “Karma.”
For the History meme: 1, 5, 9, 8?
5. A time period I dislike or find boring
The Three Kingdoms period has been subsumed into the novel, so I can’t get into the novel without thinking it’s unrealistic or the history without being underwhelmed.
8. An obscure HF who needs more love
My problem is I have no idea who counts as obscure anymore; I’ve been meaning to read The Memory Palace of Matteo Ricci, which refers to the loci technique he taught a generation of Chinese scholars
9. Favorite history-based movie
Nanjing Nanjing! by a mile. I’m surprised there aren’t more horror movies set in wartime considering the universality of the associated phrase.
