A ton of insights this afternoon at a roundtable discussion in Ramallah on the upcoming Israeli Knesset Elections and the Palestinians held by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
Two powerhouse speakers from Israel launched the conversation:
Dr. Dahlia Scheindlin is a (maybe "the") leading international public opinion analyst and strategic consultant based in Tel Aviv. A friend and one of the founders of +972 Magazine (972mag.com).
Abed Abu Shehadeh, a native of the Israeli coastal city of Jaffa/Yaffa, is a community activist and an elected representative in the Tel-Aviv-Jaffa Municipality council. He is currently doing his Masters in Political Science at the University of Tel Aviv and is the co-founder of the Yaffa-Youth Movement. He is blogging for the +972 Magazine and the platform Haokets (https://enghaokets.wordpress.com).
Two key takeaways from this engaging discussion: 1) Israel is not as shiny as the world thinks; 2) DO NOT wait for elections in Israel to produce anything other than a worse version of the same that we have today.
More as I unpack these insights.
