I had a hard time with the anatomy and pose, obviously (which is why I made this in the first place!)... took like a hour just to make Kasperl’s limbs look right like fucking hells I’m used to seeing the guy in abnormal proportions and a hat half his height. I imagine he’d be lanky as a human but I couldn’t draw that... I may edit it sometime.

{The 100% canon continuation of the M!A. Human Kasperle M!A: 0/8}

“Who the heck is Kasperle?”

((That question may have plagued you ever since the guy appeared as a marionette in Augsburg's hand a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, so I shall answer it as best as I can!

Kasperle, also known as Kasper or Kasperl, is a traditional puppet figure from the 17th century. He was so famous back then that the phrase Kasperletheater is synonymous with 'puppet theater'.

He was initially portrayed as a slapstick character like the British Mr. Punch, but later on, he becomes more heroic and fun-loving, with a love for puns and practical jokes. The Augsburger Puppenkiste's cheeky interpretation of Kasperle more or less fits the latter - his slapstick tendencies hasn't entirely disappeared, though.

How about his physical traits, you ask? Well! Kasperle traditionally wears a long red hat with a pom-pom (German: Zipfelmütze), a scarf, a shirt with a vest over it, and if he's not a hand puppet, add a pair 3/4 pants, socks, and nice laced boots. And that's about it. Since he's sort of a public domain character, you can draw/portray him however you like! Here's a few examples:

The marionette from Koblenzer Puppenspiele takes the traditional route.

The famous 1974 movie (based on Ottfried Preussler’s book Der Räuber Hotzenplotz) stars a redhead for this role. The only redhead I know of, in fact. What? No one ever specifies his hair color.

Studiodiporto2punkt0′s fan adaptations has a ridiculously colorful Kasperle... in a good way, of course!

Jeans and sneakers are cooler than boots and whatever the fuck kind of pants the others wear, seriously. kudos to AMALU e.V.’s play!

The one from Trotz-Alledem-Theater Bielefeld wears a tie. So dapper!

The 1979 movie (based on Ottfried Preussler’s book Neues vom Räuber Hotzenplotz) gives us a towering, serious-faced Kasperle with no hat. Yep, that’s right. No hat. But I guess it’s justified, since the plot doesn’t require him to have one... whoops, did I spoil you there?

Theater Gera doesn’t give a fuck, which is cool! Rule 63 FTW...?

Neither does the Augsburger Puppenkiste, as you all know~ and here’s DRB in black-and-white, and in color (sort of)!

As you can probably guess from its name, our rosy-cheeked protagonist isn't alone in the Kasperletheater - he has friends, family, and like every respectable main character, enemies, like... wait, you know what?
