Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 3 Finale

I fell asleep way too early last night after eating way too much food at Lazy Dog.

Woke up at 230am on a Saturday, good stuff. Realized I'd missed the finale of Crazy Ex last night so I had to watch it immediately. OH MY GOD.

I can't rave enough how much I love this fucking show. Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna have brought to life this character that I strangely have felt so connected to ever since she, in Broadway musical-esque song formation, impulsively chose to uproot her entire life and move across the country for a guy she dated at a summer camp ten years earlier. She runs into this guy on the street after not seeing him for years and decides to relocate to his city of 🎶West Covina, California 🎶. She, in the episode, realizes how unhappy with her life she is and just knows this is the answer to all her problems.

We, the viewer, through hilarious and well-written scenes and fantastic musical cutaways that really bring you into the mind of the characters, see that this was not the answer to her problems. The show deals with her coming to terms with that while trying to convince herself that she didn't "move here for this guy". Hers is an elaborate storybook. It's a long road of learning to face her fears, put herself first, realizing that life isn't a carefully-crafted story and choices we make don't always make sense. She has to find out the hard way the consequences of her actions and how they affect other people. This is something she seldom takes into account before the episode's climax, we typically see remedied or at least dealt with via a musical number. While the title suggests this is a show about a crazy bitch, the theme song clears that right up- "that's a sexist term" and "the situation's a lot more nuanced than that.

I've always seen a lot of myself in Rebecca Nora Bunch and have enjoyed taking this journey with her. The season 3 finale was intense and I am shooketh. What a cliffhanger. I'm on the literal edge of my seat, contemplating driving to Beverly Hills right this moment, tracking down Rachel Leah Bloom and throwing pebbles at her window until she tells me what's in store for our certifiably-cute and adorably-obsessed ingenue.

I've stanned a lot of things, but never have I written a blog post at well past 3am about them. This masterpiece needs all the recognition.
