Kataban Fumei -才- Review
This UTAU is from the same group Coal Black is, but doesn’t have a limited download time. They have 3 voicebanks, and the one I’ll be talking about today is the most well equipped and fleshed out one. This review was requested by an anon, but I believe it might be the same person who requested Coal Black too <3 thank you! I’m glad this group has a big fan!

Hear a Sample of Kataban Fumei -才-
Bio
Name: 型番不明/カタバンフメイ/Kataban Fumei (The kanji for his name means “model number unclear”)
Height: 178 cm Weight: 68 kg Body type: Young man Date of manufacturing: Unknown (There is a theory that it is April 27th, but he denies it) An android who appeared at the ykzroid series manufacturing plant one day. He always has an eerie smile on his face, and is uncannily like a flesh-and-blood human. He seems to be highly intelligent. He is a being modeled after a deceased person, as faithful to the original as possible.
Official Site
To make navigating the website easier, I’ll send a direct link to Fumei’s page. The first set of links on the page points to the voicebank I’m talking about today. The button at the top that says “ ダウンロード” will take you there. Fumei is about 610 MB when unzipped and comes with fully generated frq files.
First Impressions
Fumei has a crisp androgynous voice. With five pitches, he has a wide range from tenor to mezzo soprano. His pronunciation and accent are very strong.
Configuration
His five pitches are D3, G3, C4, F4, and G4; with G4 being a falsetto pitch. There is less of a robotic sound than CB which is a welcome difference! The samples/frqs on the falsetto pitch are a bit iffy, but that kind of voice is very hard to record, so I get it. It’s not even in the prefix.map by default anyways.
Fumei, also like CB, has a ton of extras, including consonant endings intended for use with other languages, rolled R samples, 3 types of breaths, vocal fry, and alternate pronunciations for some vowels. The consonant endings are kind of over pronounced and a little harsh sounding, but they work well enough for their intended purpose.
My recommended flags: h20H10P90F0
My recommended resamplers: f2resamp, fresamp12
Final Thoughts
Fumei is an overall great and fascinating voice with barely any mistakes. I would genuinely recommend using him, especially if you like multipitch voicebanks with lots of extras!
