Intentionally poor design and implementation are standard aspects of parody and satirical works, and Pottergame is able to effectively transition from one to the other with time and careful narrative design. Gameplay initially focuses exclusively on the nearly mindless collecting of Beans from around the castle grounds, but with time a hidden depth is shown under the surface, with the game slowly changing course from being a parody of shoddy game design to presenting a satire of the creator and present phenomenon behind its source material.
