Katrina had taken up temporary residence on a bench outside Howard-Tilton Memorial Library, waiting for Beau to arrive. It was her first full day in New Orleans and Kat was excited to see her man. It had been far too long since they’d seen each other in person, but once she got the call from NOMA, she knew it was fate. Her dream job in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, and Beau just happened to be here. She had a flask of whiskey in hand, technically it wasn’t even noon yet but that was irrelevant. Rules were for people who didn’t have the bravery to make their own. As a familiar figure began to take shape a few yards away, she stood and waved, carefully not to spill and liquor. It felt good to be home, it just so happened her home was a person.
