Finished! I forgot to post the past four or five books I read. This one is about the workforce of young ladies who painted the luminous faces on dials & clocks through both of the world wars, little knowing that they were saturating their systems with radium as they did so. Consequently, as girls began to die in their 20s, developing enormous sarcomas that required amputation of limbs, experiencing the horrors of necrosis of the mouth, & wasting away at alarming rates, radium companies worked hard to convince them & the communities around them that the radium was not to blame. The victories that surviving radium girls would win in court after lengthy & eventful legal battles would lead to increased protections for workers under U.S. law.
