THEO- “MIKE MIKE!”

KATE- “Would you please stop calling me that!  My name is KATE, now you either get in your bed for your nap, or I will just lock you here in your room and you can put yourself to sleep, little man!”

THEO- “NO!”

KATE- “You certainly got that word down. Okay, I warned you. This is the last time I have to do this thank goodness! I am locking you in here so you don’t wander around the halls. You WILL go to sleep sooner or later. I am out of here, young man. Goodbye and good luck to you!”

Kate turned away from the toddler and left the room, locking it behind her. She would give the key to Edwina, Theo would be her problem after today!

KATE- Thank Goodness it is over...FINALLY!! Now we can get out of here.”

CHARLES- “I first need to talk to Edwina...”

KATE- “Fine, but then can we leave?  I am so happy, Charles!”

CHARLES- “Me too sweetheart, me too...hey?  Who are you?”

KATE- “I’m Kate silly...”

CHARLES- “That kid over there he looks like....”

Michael disappeared as quickly as Charles saw him....

KATE- I don’t see anyone, Charles, Call Edwina in, let’s get this over with!!”

EDWINA- “Seriously, Kate?  I taught you everything and now you are leaving with MY fiance?”

Kate sat there and said nothing, she just looked ahead at Charles.

EDWINA- “So you are not going to talk huh?  So mature.”

CHARLES- “Edwina, listen it wasn’t going to work with us, and now I have a chance to leave this god-forsaken place and town. You will be well taken care of here. They want you to stay on as director.”

Edwina was still looking at Kate.

EDWINA- “Fine...go and take this slut with you.  But do not EVER come back on this property or I will have you both arrested!”

KATE-  “ I didn’t take on the job here to be a glorified babysitter, Charles.  If you are wanting me to take this baby on, I will not be able to actually be involved in the classrooms with the other boys. So you will need to find someone else.”

CHARLES- “I want you to take care of him. This is a very important child, Kate. He is going to keep this place afloat until the state decides if they are going to pay my price for this place. Plus there is a big pay raise in this for you..  And sometimes things do not always play out the way you thought they would.”

KATE-  “So are you saying that I do not have a choice?”

Charles approaches the beautiful young woman and caresses her cheek and kisses her passionately, then smiles at her.

CHARLES- “I think it would be in the best interest of the school for you to take on this responsibility.  This baby’s family is offering us a great amount of money to see that he is well taken care of, and that his parentage is held in strict confidence.  I think you would be the perfect choice for this boys nanny.  I will make it worth your while Kate, trust me.”

KATE- “Fine, but once he is old enough to fend for himself, he falls right into the rest of the boys, no special treatments. If that is to continue with him until he is adopted out, it is going to cause for some serious issues down the line.  Jealousy would be something we should not have to deal with here.”

CHARLES- “Agreed.  But he is NOT to be adopted at least until this place is sold...and it will be your job to see that he doesn’t get adopted. You see As long as he stays here, we continue to get money from his family.  Once he is gone, that money is gone.  So you see how important this little boy is going to be for us.”

KATE- “I understand Charles, and the better chance to get rid of Edwina, when we can afford to pay a real head master to the house.”

CHARLES- “Exactly, now how about we go into my private room and seal this agreement.”

KATE- “Theo...please stay out of the closet....why do you insist on trying to get in there all the time!?”

THEO- “Mike Mike”

KATE- “Of all the words, all you can say is Mike Mike...where the hell did you get that from.  Come on we need to put you down for your nap. I have to meet with Charles soon. Mr. Estep is here.”

THEO- “NO! Mike Mike”

KATE- “Did you just tell me no!? I don’t think so young man, now you get over here right now, it is time for your nap!!”

Once  Edwina  leaves, she sends in Kate Porter as Charles asked…

As Kate enters his office, Charles locks the door behind her and smiles at the young attractive teacher.  Kate Porter came to Penngrove House just a few months prior to assist Edwina in the educating the young boys at the home.  She was a recent graduate of the local community college and was eager to start her career in such a small setting. She and Charles immediately became drawn to one another, and their attraction soon turned into a relationship.  Of course, Charles’s engagement to Edwina certainly complicates his relationship with Kate, but for now, Kate is in agreement to keep their relationship under the radar until Charles can break off with Edwina without affecting the home.  He needs Edwina here to run this place.  If Edwina Baker is anything, she is an excellent house manager.

KATE- “Edwina said you needed to see me.”

CHARLES- “Yeah, we have a newborn coming tomorrow to live here, and he is going to need a nanny so to speak to care for him around the clock.”
