Anyone who knows me well will agree that there are several undeniable, unequivocal facets to my personality that are less than endearing. I’m a grade A, 100%, unapologetic, opinionated bitch that is prone to outbursts of rage. I go into attack mode faster than you can blink, and I can hold a grudge forever. I say this so that you can better understand the wide eyed disbelief and amazement I feel that someone as sweet, easygoing and as kind as Kate not only puts up with all the crap I listed above, but that she’s also my very best friend.

People spend their whole lives under the mistaken assumption that they’ll only find the missing piece of their souls in a romantic partner; what they don’t realize is that their is a different kind of soul bond that’s a million times important—one that has nothing at all to do with something as trivial as romance or passion, two things that are far too often fast and fleeting.

I’m the luckiest person in the world, because I have that special kind of connection with my best friend. Kate is the sole, calm voice of reason that stills the burning rage that always lingers deep down inside me. She is the happy, silly laughter that lightens the many burdens life weighs me down with, making them easier to bear. My best friend is the missing part of me, completing me in ways that no one else ever could.
