🎥 Planning to trek to Everest Base Camp? Here’s what you MUST know about flights to Lukla!
✈️ Lukla is the gateway to Everest, but flying there isn’t always simple…
🗓️ Peak Trekking Season (Mid-Sept–November & March–May): 👉 All flights to Lukla operate from Ramechhap Airport, NOT Kathmandu! 🚐 You’ll need to drive 4–5 hours from Kathmandu to Ramechhap (private or shared van). 🛩️ Flight time: Just 20 minutes from Ramechhap to Lukla!
🚁 Want to skip the drive? Take a helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla with a sharing option – quicker and scenic!
🗓️ Off-season (Dec–Mid-March & June–Mid-Sept): ✅ You can fly directly from Kathmandu to Lukla and back – no Ramechhap detour!
🥾 Alternative routes to Lukla: If you want to skip the flight altogether, you can start trekking from Jiri or Phaplu – but this adds several extra days to your journey.
⛰️ On your return, you’ll usually fly Lukla to Ramechhap, then drive back to Kathmandu.
📌 Tip: Always plan an extra buffer day in case of flight delays due to weather!
