her therapist told her this would be a good idea and now kathryn was convinced her therapist had it out for her. her marriage with franco had been tumultuous to say the least. she’d been so in love, they’d been so in love, but it hadn’t taken too long for that to start to change. while she’d never condone cheating it had seemed like her only out. was it something she regretted? absolutely, but there was no taking it back. when she found out he had gone to prison there was part of her that blamed herself — that thought perhaps their breakup had been the last straw for him. so, even years later with her now completely moved one and re-married, her therapist suggested she reach out for closure and for some reason or another, franco had agreed. a coffee shop seemed a little cliché but it was a fairly neutral ground for them both. as she sipped at her oat-milk flat white, the nausea kicked in as she wondered whether or not he would turn up. to her surprise, the second she pulled out her phone to see if she perhaps had a missed text from him cancelling, a rather familiar face walked through the door making her straighten up and offer a smile. “franco — you made it.”

a coffee date sounded like a good idea to kathryn. at least then she couldn’t get drunk and use it as an excuse to fuck her son’s gym teacher again. however now that she was actually sat across the table from gina it was fair to say she had some mixed feelings about if this had been a good idea at all. still, she wasn’t going to make it awkward if she could help it. instead that was just something she did naturally. “so...” she drawled slowly, pausing to bring her cup to her lips for a moment. “what is it you wanted to talk about?”
