The Desert of ZAchan: Part two

Katiaya slightly panicked. The odd creature had turned and looked straight at her! Not wanting to be rude or to upset this strange, and probably intelligent creature, she waved a friendly greeting. @
Atal stepped back a bit, his eyelight flashing purple for a few seconds before he calmed down. It had only waved at him. He was fine. Atal hesitated for a moment before moving closer so they could see the sign language that he was using.
Katiaya had never learned any form of sign language. She squinted at the creature. It was trying to communicate. She felt it project meaning through its hands. She still had no way of completely understanding.
“I don’t understand what you’re saying!”
Katiaya went a little further down the rocks until she could go no further. There was a sheer drop down the cliff. Climbing was not an option. So Katiaya jumped, she jumped off of the rock face and landed a couple of feet from the creature with a thump. @
Atal flinched away and nearly summoned an attack before stopping himself. He wasn’t being attacked. He was fine. Atal began to wonder why they hadn't answered his question. Could they not understand him? He hoped that that wasn't the case. He decided to sign and speak at the same time. Even though Atal knew they most likely wouldn’t be able to understand him when he spoke, because of the nature of his font.
“Can you understand me?”@
Katiaya was startled by its manner of speech, but strangely, she could understand.
“Well that all depends on if you can understand me!” Katiaya replied. @
Atal looked at them, confused.
”Of course I can understand you. Why wouldn’t I?”@
Katiaya shrugged, “I can’t understand your sign language, and frankly I’m surprised I can understand what you’re saying.” Katiaya continued, “Sorry if I scared you, I’m Katiaya, care to share your name?” @
”My name’s Atal. Nice to meet you.” He smiled as he held out a hand in greeting.@
Katiaya took Atal’s hand and paused, examining Atal’s hand for a moment before giving him a firm handshake.
“So, uh, This might sound weird, but what exactly are you?” @
Atal blinked.”Oh. Uh, I’m a skeleton monster… I’m not scaring you, am I?”@
Katiaya was still examining his hand,
“No, not quite, I’ve just never seen anything like you before, are there more?” @
“Not particularly, skeleton monsters are more rare than other kinds of monsters.” Atal answered. @
“Woah, wait, monsters?” @
“Yeah, there are a lot of different types of monsters. Skeletons are the most rare though, because they were, uh, on the front lines during the war.”@
“What war? How recent was it?” @
“Don’t worry, the war ended around 7 to 8 years ago,” Atal paused.”Wait, do you not know about anything I’m telling you?”@
Katiaya paused, “......No?” @
“Huh…” Atal had been staring at her for few seconds, when suddenly a sharp pain went through his left eye socket.
“Ngh...ow…” Atal clutched his skull as the pain grew worse.@
“Woah, Atal! You okay?!” Katiaya bent over the skeleton trying to see the cause of the pain.
“C’mon, let’s find some water, that might help.”
Katiaya started leading Atal back over to the rocky terrain. @
While searching for the water, the pain only grew worse. Atal leaned against Katiaya, letting his tail drag on the ground.@
“Okay, we are not going to get anywhere with you like this.” Katiaya stopped in the shade of a small rock canyon. Katiaya’s hands started to glow, and she asked,
“Okay, Atal, where does it hurt, what’s wrong?” @
Atal grimaced as the pain spiked,
”...my...skull…” Atal removed the mask that covered his left eye so that Katiaya could examine it closer.@
Katiaya looked at it and let her magic wander, seep in and find the problem. Someone else's emotions, doubt, and pain were flooding Atal, and it was something that Katiaya couldn’t stop. Instead, she used her magic to try and ease the pain, taking some of his pain on herself. And man, did it hurt. @
Counterintuitive to Katiaya’s intentions, Atal’s magic fought against her magic, causing the pain to intensify. Atal screamed, “AHHHHHHG!” then passed out.@
Feeling the two magics fighting each other Katiaya released her spell, gasping for breath.
“Sorry Atal, I guess that plan didn’t work” Katiaya told the unconscious form of Atal.
“I knew you had magic, but I didn’t know it would fight mine, sorry, That was a useless waste of energy, not to mention the damage it did, heh. Guess we’ll do it the old fashioned way.” Katiaya reached into a bag and pulled out a light blanket and a pillow. “Sleep well, Atal.” @
Now that Atal had fallen unconscious, he could tell what was happening in his head. His personality was fighting for control against another personality that Atal had kept hidden away for years. The worst part? Atal was losing.@
“Stupid, stupid, stupid Katiaya!” Katiaya murmured to herself while pacing, “You know better than to do that, messing with someone else’s magic! Not to mention a magic you’ve never encountered!” @
//That was exciting! :D//
