progression run, a new fastest mile this year, and the beginning of lupine season!
tonight’s run was magical: light like liquid gold, and the smell of lilacs and apple blossoms on a cool, salt-tinged breeze.
7 miles of pancake-flat trail with mum this morning and iced coffee afterwards makes for an excellent Tuesday ☀️
crushed an interval session yesterday! I’m still finding my way back to fitness after taking some time off at the end of the semester, but I’ve been doing threshold workouts for three weeks now and I’m pleasantly surprised to be running super consistent splits for each interval without thinking about it too hard. I’m stoked to see where I am by the end of the summer.

went over to the dark side for my steady state/long run this morning! the weather has been messing with my weekend long run plans, so I switched mine to today, hoping to dodge the snow, which started just around the time I finished the steady state portion. it’s the longest I’ve run in probably two years so I was a lil nervous about it, especially as February has been low mileage so far, but it went well, and I feel much more confident about taking on 7 miles next week.
the woods were magical yesterday morning. things have been stressful with waiting to find out what all my classes are doing with the return to in person teaching thing (most of them are staying online, except my largest one, go figure) and the driveway is a solid sheet of ice after the storm a few days ago, so I went off to the trails to go find some peace. it was everything I needed and I only got a lil lost once. so far not regretting the decision to upgrade to a watch with maps because it’s been coming in clutch.
greenway cruising kind of long run this evening.
3.5 chilly miles of hills this morning. I don’t usually go in this direction because there are a lot of blind turns and cars aren’t expecting pedestrians, but the bridge is being repaired up the road and there’s so much less traffic with the detour, so I’m taking advantage of it while it lasts.
