spidersona time i guess-

this here is my initial design of my spidersona, Katipō (pronunciation: kah-tea-paw/poor). the design of her suit and her abilities are based around the only venomous spider species we have here in new zealand that is inherently native to our country, the endangered Katipō spider.

little bit of info on Katipō spiders as a species, for anybody interested, they are part of the same genus as Australian Redback and North American Black Widow spiders! the Latrodectus genus to be precise.

they are a very shy arachnid despite their very potent and toxic venom (which can lead to fatalities if left untreated within 24 hours-), preferring flight over fight and will only ever bite if continually provoked or if their eggs are put in harm's way. funnily enough, every single bite contracted from this species is almost always caused by the females as a result. bites from male Katipō have been reported but are very rare.

will add more art and an in depth look into her abilities at a later date!

personality: blunt, sarcastic, sensitive, temperamental, tender-hearted, affectionate and warm

abilities/physical traits:

- possesses an enlarged adrenal gland compared to most spiderpeople, which helps to boost her strength and speed when she is in a fight or flight situation.

- has venom ducts in the back of her mouth that release a highly toxic venom when thoroughly stimulated. often have to be drained, with the venom being cultivated to coat her weapons.

- her webs are organic, resulting in her having to consume a lot of food daily to keep from straining herself when producing webs.
