People ask what I love about Kat Prescott and expect me to say her appearance which yes she is adorable but this is also why "I'm Kathryn Prescott, a photographer and actress, most known for my role in British teen drama Skins. After appearing on the show I became explicitly aware of how strong a reaction most people have when they pass someone they recognize on the street, even if they aren't sure where from the sense of familiarity is strong enough to compel them to approach. But I wondered why my face caused some people to look twice at me, to come over and talk to me or ask how I was doing when the face of a person without a home, someone who probably needed all of these things far more than I, didn't get a second thought. I think people are generally good and I'm sure if most saw somebody they even faintly recognized or knew from their own life, past or present, clearly living rough they would need to know if they were ok. But most people are no longer shocked by rough sleepers, in fact, many simply walk by. They are able to completely ignore a person in need because they genuinely cannot relate to what this person may have experienced during their lifetime that actually meant being on the street was preferable to being at home. By using familiar faces from the big and small screens looking damaged and destitute. I want to help break down stereotypes about those without homes. So they are seen as people rather than simply part of the scenery of modern life, or pests to be ignored. These people living on the streets could have been friends you once knew, colleagues you could have known in the future; they are people who have somehow fallen through the gaps and found themselves, often through unimaginable circumstances, on the cusp of existence.
