   uh oh.  instantaneously does smaller of the two freeze,  eyes wide and expression having caught red - handed written all over it.  maybe they should've expected katsuki to be able to notice so easily  /  he was always so meticulous with every little thing to the point it got annoying sometimes  /  of course it would only be a matter of time.  the silence is palpable and feels like it lasts for an eternity,  before quirk activates and kisho is suddenly  (  and conveniently  )  now wearing their usual patchwork hoodie.

   SHARP GASP as the surprise causes him to briefly falter in his tracks, before picking up quick— Izuku had been pacing himself, conserving energy for the exercise ahead ( Mr. Aizawa had warned them that it would be one of their more strenuous challenges since starting their first year at U.A.! He may have already grown significantly from where he began, but he refuses to lose sight of his goal— he has to keep improving! ). 

      “It’s not about being the fastest one to take the enemy down, Kacchan!” He shouts back, though Izuku is undoubtedly running faster now, sacrificing slivers of that original goal to keep up with his classmate. “We have to think about this— they want to test our strategy just as much as they’re testing our skills, right? So we THINK about each other’s strength, and the enemy’s weaknesses, and THEN decide what the best method is!” Despite his words, he knows it’s more than hopeless to think Katsuki will listen— Izuku can only rely on the intense observation he had done beforehand, and believe it’s enough to win the test.
