So, Cherry, tell us about *your* WIP that you love the most. Why do you love it? What inspired it? Any interesting structure regarding the story you'd like to share?
thanks for the ask! but oh man - i love all of my babies haha so buckle up!
i do have one wip that just - something really went right when i started it, because it's just - so easy to write? so: it's a blank-period--ish fic but in an AU where Sasuke dies in the fight against Deidara, and Itachi returns to Konoha. It starts a few years after Sasuke dies, and bc of shenanigans, Itachi is living with Karin, though they aren't *together* per se. After some more shenanigans, he ends up as a single father, which is when he finally like - starts to work through all of his emotional baggage. it's endgame ItaKonan, though the ship isn't the main focus.
I think I love it because the ships take a backseat, so I can really build more on Itachi's relationships with other people and not have to worry about where it goes. As far as side characters go, this is probably one of my most ambitious fics? Since the main premise is Sasuke dying, there's a lot of focus on the rest of Team Seven and the rest of the K12, though it's still Itachi-centric.
This is actually one of my only fics where structure is a big deal, ironically, because the title comes from a favorite poem of mine, and the poem kinda lays out several important lessons? So each of those form the main sections of the story, and each section gets Itachi closer to completing his character arc. the damn thing is like 100 pages but who knows if ill ever finish it 😅
