"Kawarau Bungy by Tazara"
A few years ago I made my first bungy jump off the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge, which is actually the world's first commercial bungy jumping site. The bridge is just 43m high ... BUT WHAT A RUSH! And the best is actually the quick dip of the head into the water. It's just sad that it is over so quickly - but it is still something to remember forever :-D
This awesome illustration of the event - with my character Rakan ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/rakan/ ) - was made by the lovely Tazara ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/tazara/ )
Easily one of the most epic things I have ever done. I was all set to do the Nevis bungy, but due to the ridiculous wind conditions, it got cancelled. I was so bummed out, but quickly rescheduled to do the next best bungy in New Zealand off the Kawarau Bridge. The Kawarau bungy is the world’s first bungy and the most popular bungy in New Zealand.
After being at the Nevis ready to go for two hours, when I finally got to the Kawarau Bridge, all I wanted to do was jump. I was the first to go in my group and was so pumped up. Standing on the ledge and looking down I couldn't have felt more comfortable. I counted down 3-2-1, and jumped. I didn't realize how intense an adrenaline rush could be until that first second of me floating weightless through the air, just me versus the water. It felt like I wasn't strapped in and I was just free falling off of the bridge. That moment when I felt the bungy cord catch me right before I hit the water was the biggest feeling of relief I have ever experienced...I’m alive! Jumping off the Kawarau was by far the highlight of my time in Queenstown.
When you look down and your only option is to jump..

Another view of Anduin river, vineyards on the left, nature’s halfpipe mountain in the distance on the right, and a bridge and bungee adventure just out of frame on the right. I guess Rangers probably train at the bungee center? #kawarau #kawarauriver #ajhackett #queenstown #arrowtown #glenorchy #paradise #newzealand #middleearth #lotr (at Middle Earth) https://www.instagram.com/p/Btm_v2SF-dB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=11prgilmkdzjs
