When I made my blanket-like rectangles I didn’t count ANYTHING. I just made a chain, said “this seems long enough” and started making double stitches.
I managed to make big-enough-to-be- blanket number 2 out of a stitch that doesn’t even exist technically because I tried to reverse engineer a double stitch (the only stitch I actually knew) into a single stitch, made a whole blanket, and found out how single stitches ACTUALLY worked several months later.
Now I’ve been making shawls and amigurumi which do unfortunately require counting but all the shawl I made had simple enough patterns that I could play Sims4 at the same time with few problems
That’s hilarious
I do like hitting the mindless stage of crocheting when you can just let your hands move while you pat attention to something else
It’s difficult for me to commiserate with your fear of raccoons despite living in raccoon country because I see significantly more dead ones on the side of the road than live ones
I, however, have encountered one single raccoon in Central Park once and the memory will haunt me.
That blanket you made is amazing. The first blanket I made was just a big solid rectangle. Or it was supposed to be anyway but if started shrinking on one side and became very lopsided and I’m still not entirely sure how.
Thank you! I am nothing if not stubbornly ambitious when I learn new skills. Honestly making 25 smaller squares was a blessing because I didn’t have to try and make sure 100s of stitches counted up properly. If I messed up my counts it was quickly apparent, so I never had to go back and unto too much of my work at any one time.
The Shrodinger’s threesome from p!Strife au is probably going to break canon!Vincent’s brain even more than it did Prof Strife himself. Especially if he’s noticing it at the same time the threesome un question is noticing exactly what canon!Hojo did to Vincent. He might just try to crawl back into his coffin while everybody’s freaking out and hope they forget about him. (They won’t of course. They might try to drag him into the group hug) (TBH, canon!Lu isn’t 100% innocent of sticking science where it don’t belong either)
[Referencing this post specifically]
Canon!Vincent suffers the most here, and honestly Prof Strife kinda wants to crawl into the coffin beside him to escape the Schrodinger's Threesome. He doesn't want to know.
They would absolutely drag him into the hug.
And no, no she is not. She also stuck her metaphorical dick in the science. Or maybe the other way around.
So, Prof. StrifeAU Lu, Vince, and Hojo, do to world jumping shenanigans that were defiantly NOT their fault, find Canon Vincent in his grandiose sulk box. Who freaks out most? (Provided on one gets shot)
Hojo. Hojo freaks out the most. Which is deeply ironic and probably extremely unnerving for poor canon!Vincent.
Hojo needs to hug his Vin for a long time after that. Lucretia joins, of course. Group hug.
Funny observation from the life of Rai. The power is out. My 60ish year old parents: glued to their phones. My millennial self: is knitting. You’d think this should be the other way around. I also wrecked a thing I was knitting because complex pattern plus dark yarn in the dark was a bad idea and I should’ve quit when the sun went down instead of trying to finish. (1 of the neighbors has a generator. It’s very loud. I’m still jealous.)
Oi, that sucks balls. Also, hilarious role reversal.
I used to crochet. I seriously never got to the point of proficiency of being able to crochet and not watch my hands, which is kinda the point. Knitting was a non-starter. Knitting is awesome and I envy those who can do it without screaming.
TV commercial: “let’s get down to business” Rai’s mom: “to defeat the huuuuuuuns” Rai: “I was going to do that!” Rai’s bro: “I do that every time that commercial comes on” We might be a family
The fact that you have an actual functional loving family is like a space alien saga, y’know that, right? <3
