T'pring: *blushing slightly* It is a most logical course for my character as I gain the freedom to explore my sexuality.

Me: No stop it you two. Besides you're not even really lesbians b/c Kirk isn't a girl

Kirk: I've got boobs! Not that that means anything... But I'm sometimes kind of a girl, more or less... *drags T'Pring down for a human kiss*

Me: ok fine you can be lesbians if you want to whatever. But you are NOT ending up together.

T'Pring: *breathing slightly more rapidly than usual* Our- um- our relationship will be important in the development of our respective characters regardless of the final outcome.

Me: what have i done...

Kirk: *whispers* space lesbians.

Depression? though i never saw it as an obstacle either it was just something that happened to me

Jim raised her eyebrows.

Bones brought the words up on his PADD and turned it around for her to read.

"Do no harm," she murmured. A sneer formed on her lips, an ugly expression (though not necessarily, he realized, a cruel one). "You made a promise you had no chance of keeping, and you- you knew." 

She let out a long breath and stepped closer. For a moment he was afraid- she still hadn't declared what she would do after... that. But she just wrapped her arms around him and pressed her face to his chest. 

"Oh, Bones..." she said sadly, voice muffled in his shirt.

After a moment, he hugged her back, his chin falling to rest on the top of her head.

Okay but bones breaking the Hippocratic oath is like... That's the one issue I've had with Observations- he wouldn't DO that, but.... It cemented the idea for this part of my fic. In a world where bones and jim do not have the relationship they do in the non-mirror verse, what would drive him to break that oath? His own survival, perhaps? Certainly that of his daughter. Because even in a darker universe, even in the Empire, I think bones would have taken that oath, dug it up in some historical archive and spoken it under his breath in the middle of the night, well aware that the odds of actually upholding it would be low, but trying anyway, letting that spark of hope carry him through his cynicism and rage.

Not only am I emotionally compromised by this fic, I am now emotionally compromising MYSELF with my OWN fic. Fyi, my Kirk just got betrayed by Bones b/c someone threatened Joanna and now Bones is mostly dead b/c Spock, and and and HELP (don't worry Bones will not be all the way dead I just am horrible to my characters and now Bones thinks his daughter is dead and that Jim is gonna kill him, neither of which is true and Spock is currently rather unstable and Jim is freaking the fuck out and comming Pike b/c he owes her a favor [yes HER] and no way is she gonna let an innocent girl die in the crossfire of the Empire's politics and- I am done)
