sometimes you love a book even if you don’t remember what happened in it. you don’t remember what the characters looked like, you don’t remember where they went or what they did, you don’t remember how the story ended. but you DO remember the weight of the book in your palms, the sound of the plastic library binding, the smell of pages that have been turned by so many hands, and the feeling of bittersweet longing that coursed through you when you finished it

before i leave for a bit i just want to say this:

1. to my black brothers and sisters. i know it may seem like we’re alone in this fight, but we’ve got to stick together, we have each other and a lot of other people supporting us. if any of you need anything, please don’t hesitate to message me here or on my twitter. i’ve got your back. 

2. if you have yet to acknowledge whats going on, we see you. it really shows what kind of person you are and what kind of person you’re not to us. just because its “not your country” doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. racism happens everywhere, and if you haven’t seen it or encountered it, consider yourself lucky. but this doesn’t mean you can’t help and support us. 

3. please donate to george’s family, sign petitions, text “FLOYD” to 55156 to sign a petition to help get justice for George Floyd’s murder. do something to help. solely reblogging stuff is not proactive, we don’t want to see your performative activism, we need justice. PLEASE do not stay silent. 

i just ask all of the non-black people reading this to please read the room before you post things concerning this, and to rely on resources to educate yourself on what is happening here and how to help further, not black people.
