When Boram Darkwill had been felled, he had left behind the ruins of two empires. There had been Ionia, a shining light now flickering because of the loss of many, but there had also been Noxus. A Noxus he had perverted and corrupted from its own ideals, hiding his own weakness and inability behind a veil of excuses. For Swain it was not necessarily a question of morality but practicality that made Darkwill’s policies so unbecoming of a Noxian. While Zaunite chemical warfare was efficient in its usage and could thus be excused, to send mere children out onto the battlefield was madness.
Train them first. Let them grow, and be strong. Let them be children. After all, when children had memories of their childhood, they would fight for or against them as adults with fury. Fight to protect happiness. Fight to escape the past. Motivations a young child thrust into a battle for something they did not care about nor understand could not hope to live to see.
All thoughts that had passed through the general’s mind before, but were resurfacing even now as he sat in the middle of an abandoned restaurant, making do with the meagre meal he had found for himself. Tucking into the light meal, the tinkling of bells from the door announced that a newcomer would soon be joining dinner.
“I wasn’t expecting company today. To whom do I owe the pleasure?”
