Posting some sketches....

A little something I sketched out of an behind-the-scenes clip from the EarhWorm Jim TV Series so I could get a better grasp on how to draw the almighty worm hero. This is from around 2004-2005. Probably closer to september-october 2004. Besides the logo at the top left, the rest of the doodles can actually be spotted in one of the Earhworm Jim Cartoon School episodes showing a tour around the offices at Universal Cartoon Studios to... well, to show the process of animating the TV series, and how cartoons were produced at the time. I think I traced the doodles from TV to paper fairly accurately, minus some imperfections here and there.

I drew this artwork to use as reference for the Mower Brawl minigame that made it into the V2.X versions of the game. I settled for the top-down viewpoint because it was simpler to design a minigame around at. The top artwork on the other hand, was never used due to the fact it would've required graphics for both Kazooa and Uncle John to be made, something I didn't feel like creating just for a simple minigame. The lawnmower on the image to the left side was used for the minigame title though, so not everything in this pic went unused. As a sidenote, this drawing can be obtained in the game along with other artworks after getting 99999 coins and all the treasures. And yes, V2.0 of my Kazooa in the Treasure Land has since been finished, the most recent version being 2.4.4. However, at this point I think my post-development work on this game are pretty much done, which means it probably won't be getting any more updates. Who knows, maybe I'll put out one last revision of this game at some point in the future, but that's only if I feel it'll be worth my time.

The Red Fryer tends to claim that she fears nothing, but what if there's something that's too big for her to handle on her own...? This little comic strip was made around three days before I joined deviantart, and as seen on the drawing I had decided on my old "ConkerGuru" name that I'm no longer using, on my art or when referring to myself online. Kazooa the Seagull/The Red Fryer created by me.

Time for more artwork posting, first up being concept art for a possible new entry in the Kazooa the Seagull series of games(of which only ONE game so far has been finished. The rest of the other projects have long since been canned)

This piece is one of the artworks I've made for a possible new game project starring this character. After having worked on the 2.X versions of Kazooa in The Treasure Land my desire to make a new Kazooa game has only kept growing.

Compared to Kazooa in The Treasure Land, this game will more or less be a 2D platformer like the Wario Land series of games. As for Kazooa's rival Uncle-John, I don't think I'll be able to adapt him to work for this new game, so I've since come up with a new arch-nemesis for Kazooa.

Also, Kazooa's palette has been made a bit duller, because I saw on my secondary monitor, when hooked to my laptop, that the colors in the game's graphics looked quite strong. On the other hand, I've realized since my early years of making games that the colors I picked was probably much stronger than I remembered.

Cindy is a character invented for my next game project starring Kazooa the Seagull. As depicted in the drawing, she sure seems quite sadistic, and prefers slicing through the cookie dough and such at very fast speeds than anyone unlucky to enter her bakery house could possibly handle. Even if this character would be in the new Kazooa game, there will obviously be no gore and such going on during the boss fight. And even if the pizza slicer would hit the player, Kazooa would just get sliced in half in a comic way(like how Wario gets spliced in half in Wario Land 3 when attacked by a certain enemy). I'm not sure if the boss battle would be taking place on a pizza or on a strawberry cake. Maybe I could alternate between both options to make the battle a little more varied in scenery...

Captain Blacktea is a character invented for my next game project starring Kazooa the Seagull. She is set to replace the Uncle John character as Kazooa's rival for the next Kazooa game I'm considering making at some point. At first I considered giving her the name "Captain Rhubarb", but I didn't find it good enough, so I eventually settled for "Blacktea", because well, she likes tea, black tea especially, and lives in a big teapot for a pirate castle. However, I decided to keep her other name mainly for Kazooa to use as an insult towards her. While I may not begin work on my new Kazooa game for the time being(still got my Nikkie project to start on at some point), at least I can try and draw any ideas that comes into my mind.

Exploring an early build of my Kazooa in The Treasure Land game, which was uploaded on deviantart back in late 2011 for people to try. Normally the demo ends after the third stage, but by using a hidden cheat dialog box more stuff and differences awaits.

Just a montage of all the cutscenes from my Kazooa in The Treasure Land game, including some that weren’t featured in the playthrough video I made.

Figured I'd do this mainly so people can compare these to the same scenes(if present in any shape or form) from any earlier or later builds of the game I might showcase in the future.

The video of the 040.2 demo build of the game is on its way. Just checking whether there's any errors in the text before I'll upload it.

Probably the last artwork for the KazooaWare.Inc project(I think?):

Crazy Wheelies would of have played exactly like the microgame “Crazy Cars” from the very first WarioWare game. Some minor work was done on the microgame before the game was canned(complete with placeholder graphics and sfx where needed.)

 Concept art time:

A piece of conceptual artwork showing the whole cast of characters for KazooaWare. The game was to be based on the first title in the WarioWare series, revisiting the settings of that game.

Kazooa the Seagull was going to be like how Wario usually is (greedy and all that). Frankie the Weasel (from Conker’s Bad Fur Day) was to be based on Jimmy T., rocking out at disco clubs and such, and his games would also revolve around sports. Crowiolina was to be like Mona, and her games would be quite weird in nature. Project 67 and Dummy’s set of microgames would be similar to Dribble and Spitz.

Tailyna and Applelin (called “Cherri” in the pic becuase the original name was still in use by then) were to be based on Kat and Ana, and their microgames would have been nature-based. For some reason they were later replaced with Lucy and Jasmine from the Lazy Lucy series, and their theme would have been “Lazy”(to what I can remember writing in the comments of the game’s GML code). Comparing this drawing with the characters that evenutally ended up making it into the early protoypes for KazooaWare, I now think the former duo (Tailyna and Applein) should have been kept alongside the newly added characters.

Kid Conker would have been based on 9-Volt, and his games would have been based on ones made by Rare(similar to how 9-Volt’s games are based on Nintendo games). I was at one point considering replacing the character with someone else, but was unable to come up with anything good before the project was put on hold anyway. Dr. Stock is basically a Wood-Stock, with a few changes to make him look a bit like Dr. Crygor, and like Dr. Crygor his games would be based around science. Weirdo, the last character of the entire cast, now redesigned to look a bit like Orbulon. His games would have been IQ-based. He even has his own little spaceship as seen in the above pic,

Character bios sketches(KazooaWare). I think the drawings says it all, so I don’t see any need to write anything about each of them.

One thing I should say though, is I didn’t have time to draw all the character bios, so this is pretty much all what was done.

Going through the files I used for my Game Maker stuff yet again, in this case the application icons I drew for Kazooa’s Bad Strange Day. Their filenames reveal inconsistencies when it comes to the game’s name, despite the fact the name “Kazooie’s Bad Stupid Day” was nearly decided on right from the beginning. These names include “Kazooie’s Big Sicky Day” and “Kazooie’s Big Stupid Day”.

The first name is most likely because the icon was finished about a minute before the project file was saved, and at the time the icon was being drawn I hadn’t yet decided on the game name. The second name however is just a simple oversight, but even then I suppose I was still unsure as to what the name for the game really would be. The newer versions of the icon all have the “Kazooie’s Bad Stupid Day” name on them though, so this whole game name inconsistency weren’t to last for much longer.

Speaking of project names. Before I took a demo of an earlier game project of mine that failed horribly and remade it into KBSD, I started some minor work on a completely new project called “Kazooies Very Bad Awful Day” (the name coming from a comic I was drawing), which was similar to KBSD, but with a entirely different art style. I didn’t carry it on further though, and it was only being worked on for a few hours before being stoved aside.

One of the sprite graphics I made for it were eventually repurposed for KBSD, namely the “splatter effect” (blood, poo, or otherwise) seen when some projectile hits an npc or an enemy touches the player. Even then it had to be shrunk a little to not take up too much space on screen.

I had a go at checking out this later “Crower VS The Time” prototype, and as far as I can tell there isn’t that many differences lingering about. It is similar to a slightly earlier version of it, the only difference being a few additional “glitch” sprites that I probably drew out of boredom. Those weird sprites never got used for anything though.

So, with that checked off, time for some more concept drawings!

These drawings were for an game project of mine, Kazooa the Phantom Thief. The game would have been inspired by Wario: Master of Disguise for the Nintendo DS. The first sketch shows Kazooa standing, holding a frying pan with devil horns while laughing maniacally at someone. This frying pan would have been known as “Bast-Pan”, a play on the words “Frying pan” and “Bastard”.

The second sketch shows Kazooa in her “Thief” form. Her name in this form would’ve been “The Red Fryer”, based on Thief Wario’s ″Purple Wind” name.

The game had yet to begin development at this point, but I kinda carried on with Kazooa’s “Red Fryer” persona for quite some time in the case the game would be made. Even though the game have had been put on hold for some time, seeing this character again I might as well try bringing her back, even if it is going to be only for my drawings.
