Boeing KC-747/KC-25 Tanker
1970’s contender for the USAF ATCA (Advanced Tanker-Cargo Aircraft) contract. Would have been the KC-25 if selected, but lost to the McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender. Iran ordered similar tanker-capable 747s, with only a couple delivered before the fall of the Shah. The aircraft remain in service, but their usability as tankers is doubtful.
