a few days ago, i put out a poll inquiring about people's preferences regarding the events of hans' wedding. and i'm not gonna lie, i expected a very one-sided winner! however, 609 votes later, and the tie was hardly broken to my surprise!
it seems a lot of people are split on the decision based primarily on the fact that KCD3 is years away and they're not keen on waiting that long to see how the wedding unravels.
others have also mentioned wanting it to be a DLC because they belive it would allow WH to put focus their attention to its story better if it was a standalone. which i agree with to a certain point, but not entirely.
personal stance on all this?
personally, i think both of these options are reasonable and both have their own supporting evidence, but i find one of them more suitable for the narrative of KCD in general.
and that is making the wedding a part of KCD3! i can guess what events will be covered next in KCD3 and i think that putting the wedding somewhere along the beginning/middle of KCD3 would be a good idea for setting a lighter undertone for the inevitably heavy story.
so while a wedding DLC is possible, i don't think setting it aside as a standalone project would improve the main story of KCD3 unless they're going to cover a new obscure event that would demand the wedding be excluded from the narrative (and turned into a DLC).
so either way, if the wedding turns out to be a DLC or a sequential part of the next game's story, we're still looking at at least a year of waiting regardless of the choice.
i say that because 2025 is already scheduled for the release of 3 new DLC's up until winter and i don't see a big part of the story like the wedding being ready to release even as a DLC anytime before next year.
