Listen, I love Hansry as much as the next person. Their yearning and the fear they have to lose the other. But can we talk about Istvan and Erik? I love this scene of them so much because you can feel the heavy air hanging between those two. Erik, who for a second hesitates and wants to turn around, clearly wanting to say something to Istvan or even go back to him. Istvan, who hesitates to say his goodbye to Erik. They part ways with words unsaid. Words, as we know, will never be said. The more often I have watched this scene (and the one of Istvan and Henry) it sometimes even felt as if Istvan was aware that he would never see Erik again. I also like to imagine that while Erik took the time to bury Istvan, he even took the time to tell him everything that was left unsaid between them over his grave. People can think whatever they like about those two and their relationship. But we know since KCD1 that they would burn the world for the other and that’s honestly something I find so endlessly endearing about them.
