Sooo... about that last episode...

1. Of course, it’s always Klaus. If you want to get in trouble, call Klaus, he’s already up to no good.

2. But to be fair, they will all thank him later. Like, how many years they would do nothing, with imminent threat over their heads, if Klaus wouldn’t go and push it to resolve it sooner or later? He’s always doing that. He’s always succesful at some point. But yes, he’s the bad one.

3. Gosh, I missed him so much.

4. I missed all of them actually. Even Freya, whom I barely know (stopped watching when she was still in coffin, and came back only for phonecall). Even Hayley, for crying out loud (as much as I don’t like her, she’s the one of Unwanted whom I think would be quite enjoyable to watch, if she wasn’t made main for no reason, and whole that pregnancy crap - and episodes like this one is the proof).

5. I’m trying to enjoy just seeing Kol, without paying attention what he was actually saying and to who. In my perfect world, he’s in ménage à trois with Bonnie and Kai, and nothing will change that.

6. Rebekah, oh, Rebekah... Why you’re making this so hard? I know that her answer means more screentime for Marcel and Rebekah than if they would go on honeymoon, but still... Hope they will make it at least in the finale.

7. Seeing Elijah calm and happy is so blissful. So sad it won’t last long, I presume.

8. I want this post to be happy and positive one, so I’d just say that I still don’t care about Hope.

9. But what I DO care, is these two short scenes that was just worth all the miserable waiting. Klaus and Caroline are totally married without being married. Every word, every gesture, every eye contact, smile and move were as perfect as expected. Caroline got new beautiful quote (it’s nice, because my favourite ones usually were Klaus’) for us to gloat over, Klaus got his ‘true-happiness’ smile’ once again, and looks like certain promise about ‘never coming back’ has been revoked - she invited him to Mystic Falls, didn’t she? It’s not like I’m screaming ENDGAME... but I totally do!

Right now, I’m back to youtube, to have some happiness.

Keratoconus trials and tribulations! Part 1 - first contact lenses

After suffering since the age of 17 with Keratoconus (I’m now 37), I decided it was time to start sharing my experiences with others, hopefully with a light hearted element. Each blog will have a theme which I am sure will ring familiar within the KC family!

I am going to start with my first experience of Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses. The day to get them fitted had finally arrived, glasses were no longer doing the trick (as is the case for many KC sufferers). As a 20 year old I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, I had nothing to compare my vision to, all I knew was that everything was bit blurry and I had to hold things pretty much pressed against my face to see them.

I only remember snippets of my appointment with the ophthalmologist. The first thing being that he was getting on in life and had hearing difficulties. I couldn’t see him and he couldn’t hear me, not a great combination! Having struggled through previous appointments to work out my prescription by shouting my responses to the various eye tests I was hoping the fitting stage would be a lot smoother. On the whole it was. The next thing that I remember was having pain killer drops inserted into my eyes, it had never occurred to me until then that having tiny little pieces of plastic in my eyes would actually hurt. It did hurt, a lot.

I was feeling increasingly nervous and anxious about the future at this point. Everything else about the appointment was pretty much a blur, a bit like my eyesight. The next thing I remember, having had those darn bits of plastic put into my eyes, was the clarity of the veins and wrinkles on my ophthalmologists face! Having finally got a decent quality of vision after 3 years of fuzziness my resounding memory of fairly decent eyesight is veins and wrinkles; not what I had imagined. In my head I had envisaged seeing beautiful flowers with vibrant colours, but no, for me it was wrinkles and veins.

That’s ok I thought, there’s plenty of time for all of the nice stuff, I just need to leave the hospital and take a look at the outside world. So I did, mother in tow. I walked through the corridors, blinking frenetically trying to adjust to having strange plastic objects in my eyes. Eventually reaching the outside world I took in the vista ready to be astounded by my ‘new eyes’.

Mum “What’s it like? What can you see?

Me “The trampled chewing gum on the floor is really clear, there’s so much of it, it’s grim”.

So there it was, my new found vision had provided me with razor sharp images of wrinkles, veins and chewing gum. At least I could only wear the lenses for a couple of hours at a time to let my eyes adjust to the pain, it could only get better from there!
