He was nursing his glass of wine, only his second, as he watched his party members filter from the tavern floor to the shared room. Who didn’t join the slow trickle of staggered movement caught his attention, off to the side.

“Isn’t it getting a bit late for you? You tend to head to bed fairly early.”

“I sleep whenever its necessary.”

It was a bad answer, he knew, he’s pretty sure Kairon knew it was, in fact, a horrible answer. Even when its necessary, which is usually every night for normal people, he pushes himself well beyond his limits. An old habit.
