It took a lot to make him fidget like this. He'd dug bullets out of his own skin without help, without anything to ease the pain besides a belt between his teeth. And he'd managed it without a single flinch. This was more painful than even that.

And Wraith couldn't decide whether it was better or worse that Maggie was insisting on tending to it. Maybe that was why this hurt worse... wasn't his hands dealing with it, tugging at the broken skin and patching it up. He did his best to listen, though. Every muscle tensed and he held himself still as he could, only his nostrils flaring with each deep breath he drew.

He hadn't been expecting that. While it wasn't exactly his kind of thing, Nicky was willing to accept anything when it came to being with Theo, even if that meant that the other man would leave soon after their intimacy was over. He was so hooked in by the older man that he would take anything and everything that he could get just to be by his side, and that even included feeling alone when he would find himself in an empty bed moments after they had come down from their simultaneous high.

But tonight felt different, and as he lay there beside Theo, feeling the other's hand gently stroking his hair, he heard the assurance that he would be staying and it made him smile.

"Really? That sounds lovely, actually..." Just to lie there in his arms, to fall asleep beside Theo and wake up to find him still there... That was something he longed for.

He smiles at her, kneeling down to take the bag from her before kissing her on top of the head. "Thank you, sweetie." He opens the bag and pulls out the bracelet. John doesn't normally wear bracelets and such but it's a gift from his daughter and he's going to cherish it and wear it forever. He slips the bracelet on and holds his wrist up, smiling even more. "I love it." If you see him about to cry, then you need to mind your business and let him cry because this is the best Father's Day gift he's ever gotten. He carefully pulls her into a hug.

The sting made his lips press into a thin and pale line over gritted teeth... but he didn't move while she worked. Arm was still held aloft. Deathly still. Not even a twitch of muscle under her hands. Squeamish he wasn't, but the carnage that stretched from his wrist upwards still forced him to glance away. As far as he was concerned, the fact he wasn't tugging away from her or standing up was enough of a sign that he was going to let her finish... just in case it wasn't, though, her gave her a nod.

a nod is offered up as she listens to his request. a step is taken back. the back of her knees brushes against the bed's edge. eyes remain wholly on him as her hand falls from her body, fully allowing him to see all of her.

she's not afraid of him as she was afraid of jareth. he's kind and caring. he's shown her nothing but softness and adoration. she's at ease with him. he's calmed her enough that she feels okay to be bare before him.

His gaze raked over her, every inch, looking for any sign that she was moving strangely... any indication that she was one of those creatures. They'd gotten through here before. And the soldiers were useless. Hadn't done a damn thing the last time one of those monsters was wandering through these dank, run-down alleys...

Her assurances were met with cold skepticism. Anyone would lie. But, she was right about one thing: they needed to get out of sight, or they'd both be in trouble. Pathetic as the guards were in dealing with the real threats, in Wraith's experience, they wouldn't miss a chance to flex their violent muscles when it came to the residents here. He jerked his gun, using it to motion. Not a sound from him, aside from the slight scuffle of his boot on concrete, but there were no words needed to convey the meaning, ' Move. That way. '

skippy, we have not written a ton, but it is so clear to me how much love you have for each and every character you write. i especially love your original characters. it's clear that you have put much thought into their development, and it truly shines in how you talk about them and how you write them. you're also just an incredibly kind person, and i appreciate that so much!
