Hello! I just want to start off by saying I absolutely adore your fics! They genuinely make my day with each update 😄
Though I was hoping you could help me with something I've been struggling with. I really want to start my own multi-chapter Rujinu fic. I have the base ideas and everything, but I'm lacking the motivation. I haven't even finished the last Rujinu fic I started because I just struggle to get any sort of motivation to write these days.
As a writer, what would be some tips you could give so I could perhaps find the motivation I need to start writing again?
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! 💗
You should ABSOLUTELY go for it!!! I totally get the motivation thing. It's hard! I think my best advice is to write what YOU want to write. Readers will have their opinions on how they think things should go. They'll have their own ideas of head-canons and theories, and your story might not align with their ideas and that's okay!
My motivation comes from writing what I want to write. I look forward to writing chapters because a lot of them are things I've anticipated writing for a long time! I love daydreaming scenarios and bringing them to paper. That keeps it enjoyable.
Another thing I do is make notes outlining the basic things going down in each chapter. Sometimes I end up splitting or condensing those chapters when I finally get around to writing them, but it helps a lot to see "okay, in 5 chapters we get to THIS part, and that's so exciting!"
For me, some chapters are way more fun to write than others. I struggle writing heavy lore chapters because I'm trying to be super cautious not to write myself into a corner.
I know a lot of people probably think I love writing whump the most (which sometimes I do, haha) but those can also be challenging. Putting characters through the wringer is tough, but can be SO rewarding if it's done right and there's good payoff/healing in the end.
My favorite chapters to write are actually the humorous ones!!! I feel like there's so much you can learn about characters when they choose to find light and humor even in the darkest of situations.
So find the things you love to write, and write what makes you happy. That's kept my motivation to continue with Fissure after almost a year!!! Crazy!!!
Thank you so much for this ask, I hope it helps you on your writing journey! 💗
