I Remember You Ep. 9-12
Ok so I’m writing this thoughts post at 1:27am and I have a train to catch at 5am. You can say that I procrastinated too much, but look at this dedication folks! I don’t know if this post will make sense. Sorry in advance and spoilers ahead.
Admittedly, when it comes to the romance scenes between Lee Hyun and Cha Ji An and some case scenes not related to Min or Jun Yeong, I tend to not pay attention as much. I’m honestly not invested in those parts of the show. Unlike most drama fans, I don’t want romance in my crime thrillers. I want action! Suspense! Clever villains and smart detectives! I am getting all of these in I Remember You and I am loving those aspects in it. I just won’t get into the romance and short story arc case details at the moment. I do really like Cha Ji An and think she is a tough, smart detective! I don’t want to dismiss her because of the romance aspect of the story. I think she’s awesome. Her bravery in the episode 9-10 abduction case was wonderful (yet difficult) to witness.
However, I am very much invested in the main mystery of Min and Jun Yeong and so many of my questions that I posed in my last two posts were answered in these episodes! After Jun Yeong murdered Lee Hyun’s father, he took Min instead of Lee Hyun. I thought he would have wanted to take Lee Hyun instead because he was supposed to be the “monster” child. A few episodes later when Lee Hyun reunites with Min (such a heart wrenching scene!), we find out that Lee Hyun told Jun Yeong in prison that it was Min that was the “monster”. It seems that was the reason why Jun Yeong took Min after the murder and one of the main causes of Min’s resentment towards Lee Hyun.
THE BIG REVEALS! The show hinted at it a lot, but I tend not to trust shows when they do that because I think they will switch it on me, but this time, they followed though. The lawyer is Min and the neighbor doctor is Jun Yeong! I’m so glad that the show didn’t drag out the reveals. I find the pacing of the episodes and the information they reveal to be great. Just enough to leave you satisfied but impatient for more. I wonder when will Lee Hyun figure out that the doctor is Jun Yeong? I can’t wait for that scene.
Only four more episodes left for this drama! I feel like that’s just enough time to finish up the case that just cropped up, the Lee Hyun/Jun Yeong showdown, brother reconciliation, and the happy ending. I can’t wait to finish this drama and see everything come together!
P.S. A last minute thing has popped up which is why I’m traveling today and early tomorrow. I scheduled to watch two episodes a day and write my final post Friday afternoon (I always procrastinate and wait until the deadline ok??). I’m not sure if I can do that now, but I definitely should have my final thoughts post up by the end of Saturday. I just wanted to give you all a head’s up and I’m sorry for any inconvenience!
P.P.S. I’m curious about this. How do people feel when a show humanizes their villains and try to garner sympathy from the viewers? I’m still coming to terms with Lee Hyun’s acceptance of his brother’s past crimes. I understand that guilt, love, and reconciliation are a huge component to this, but I just don’t know.
